Been there, drop trl find a hospital and take co driver to outpatients. They give him temporary medicine and prescribe something and you'll need to pick it up asap at the local drug store. In this case you won't need a dentist, the doctor working in outpatients will assist him.If he doesn't get to hospital like now that infection will get much worse real quick.Docot will give him pain killers and penicillin which means he may not be able to drive as long as hes on certain medicine. Also you'll need to notify your company about the medicine.

Were still chugging. He says he feels better today. My threat still stands that if he passes out, he will wake at an ER.

There was a time in history, not so long ago, that something like this could kill a person.
Infections need to be treated ASAP.
Being a hero could cost him his life, no joke.

Use the smart phone and get it done.

Edit: Plus, according to the FMCSA rules 392.2, ill or fatigued operator, it's against the law for him to drive.

I had 2 bad toothaches while on the road.Thats when I was at Gainey and this guy and I was set out to pick him up a trk so we teamed for a few days and thank god we did.He was real concerned and took the whole rig to the nearest hospital. After getting treated I was still in severe pain for a few days due to all the infection.I don't know if I could have had to strength to go to the hospital had he wasn't there without having to call 911.

Hi Otw, I agree, common sense should dictate when to go. Now I'm no doctor, it goes beyond my training as a truck driver, but it seems, the hot tooth that kills someone could be because they may have a more serious underlying problem. My mom, may she rest in peace, was a nurse all her life and told me of a friend that had bad teeth that killed him, and I said, Mom, this guy smoked 2.5 packs of cigarettes a day for 40 years, and you are telling me his teeth killed him?
I hear ya on the pain going away when you go to the dentist. I have state run health care, which includes dental. The problem is, no one in my city will accept the coverage, and I have to go 280 miles up north to get it done. Another thing, when I finally did go to a dentist for an emergency extraction ( wouldn't accept my ins., cost $300) he said a few other teeth were bad and would have to come out, that weren't bothering me. Sure enough, 3 weeks later, those teeth started bothering me. The great dental conspiracy?
Oh, one more thing. We have to remember, dentistry is a business, like anything else, and dentists will do a lot of unnecessary procedures to pad their lifestyle. I had dentists 20 years ago tell me many teeth had to come out, and I said, not so fast, pal, and I'm still chewing on them to this day.

Antibiotics are available from pet supply businesses. Could fedex some Fishflex (Cephalexin) to a truckstop enroute. Check for human dosage amount before ordering.

I keep some on hand at home for the dogs in case they get a bad wound from a nasty critter.

Hope this guy doesn't die before y'all get to PA.

He is changing his suspected issue to TMJ and still refuses to see a doctor. I really can't force him unless he is incapacitated. He intends to see someone, but he is dead stuck on a home doc. I agree TMJ or abscessed tooth it's worth checking out ASAP. Only a doctor could be more certain I think.
