Anyone familiar with the 94 model 9400's? I am in a dilemma on what to do about no AC in Texas. Ive owned this truck 9 years, the truck AC was "working" when i got it, but someone by passed the actual wiring to the compressor and ran it direct. This obviously would freeze out the lines running constantly, so i wired it to a toggle switch, i never found the original wire for the compressor. So, i ran that for a few years then decided to try a window unit with an invertor. This worked well but the copper tubes inside the unit kept cracking..so ditched that idea. Since then Ive pulled that out, removed the truck compressor and condensor and gave up.

I really dont trust this stock AC setup, it NEVER blew cold to begin with, although i never tried to look into cleaning the stock stuff either.

So i guess what im asking, would it be a good idea to try a between the seat Red Dot unit (expensive, around $2000), some ebay/amazon 12 volt split units (between $600-$800), or try to get the stock stuff running? As of now to get the stock stuff even looked at, i would need a new compressor and condenser to begin with, lost them both a few years ago. Any input is greatly appreciated it, no AC is hard to get used to, but i have done it. I am just ready to go at it, tired of being uncomfortable in this truck!

Take it to a reputable ac shop and fix it. It will be expensive but worth it. Hard to work when your miserable. Plus, your truck is worth nothing to most people without an AC unit. You can also do it yourself. I had a 1976 kw, (first truck ) with no ac. Read a how to fix ac in a john deere tractor manual. Put an under dash unit in it out of a wrecked mustang. Worked quite well. Necessity is the mother of invention.
    Good luck.

International(Navistar) has had an issue with an ac connection block under the cab on the passenger side, on some models the dryer may be nearby. It’s usually one of first places an ac technician will go to.

I've been trying to price out stuff to get the original AC back together to at least see what it needs. I still have the old York bracket but will get the sanden adapter and run the sanden.

I have the electrical diagram and it shows a green wire? that powers the compressor. I've never been able to find it, but while out looking now, would this be it? the book confuses me a bit because I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a black wire or green?

I’d probably go with one of those units they sell for RVs/buses. A quick Google search showed several for less than a grand. 12v, thermostat controlled, fairly straightforward.

yup...that's the same type I seen on ebay. the problem is if I try the "fix the truck ac" route, those split systems don't use a compressor or the truck condenser. so I'd be out by about $500. or....I would have to go the red dot route since that system does use the truck compressor and condenser.

I'm headed to look at my buddy's wrecker he swapped an n14 in that uses a sanden. trucks a peterbilt i believe but I can eat least see how he did it

well I went and looked at his peterbilt and I think peterbilt made that bracket set up for sandens. did a google search and can only find them on peterbilts. would be nice to try and run a stock bracket but I guess that's why the adapters are made

Pull the green wire out of the loom and see if it has the numbers and letters 77C printed on it every few inches. If it does its the correct wire.
