If you are serious about just working then hauling production fluid in NW AB or NE BC is good choice, you will have 8 months of working everyday.

Kijiji and Indeed are loaded with companies looking, you will make good money. I would probably tend to Dawson Creek and Fort St John areas so you don’t have to deal with Kakwa and Hwy 40 all winter. Pay is better on the BC side too.

You need to take a camp job to bank that much money in 7 months IMO

If you're ok with a bit of a commute you can get into a house cheaper than if you stay within Edmonton. Lots of nice, smaller communities nearby.

I second this, Loblaws basically dumped IHaul-H&R, Lightspeed and 1/2 of their Bison contractors. The beauty of being a Loblaws driver, is none of the Loblaws DCs can #### with you, no live unloads, no waiting, just pull in and drop on the pad, take paperwork to check-in, bobtail out. This is basically what I was doing as an IHaul ABL, but every now and again, they would take a run at me, or I would get screwed with a live unload.

All the produce places Loblaws goes to, are Coolers with real docks. So none of that BS sitting in fields, or produce sheds. If you do get a 2 pick, they will be less than 1 hour apart, easy peasy. If IHaul wouldn't have tanked, I would still be doing that work, eating BBQ in Texas, Nogales and Salinas.

I’m sorry but Loblaws doesn’t know what they want when it comes to either keeping their own drivers or contracting out to 3rd party carriers. Loblaws here in ontario got rid of their drivers in cambridge finally after years and years of talk that they would outsource to 3rd party carriers . It Was the same thing back in 2008 when i drove for schneider and we had a contract out of the Ajax DC . lots of rumours they would close the ottawa dc and get rid of their drivers . I guess they finally did and built a big DC in cornwall now . If your looking for a long term employment with loblaws you better have a back up plan because i wouldn’t trust them

    I concur. I don't trust them either. I wouldn't work for them.
But they are knocking out the reefer market in the West right now.

    BigHossVolvo Thanks this.
