Get a couple loaves of bread and some peanut butter and jelly, or any other cheap filling for sandwiches that you like. A case of water is like $5. There are lots of ways to eat cheap.

You can live on oatmeal for weeks. Free coffee at the truck stops.

Even if you eat out of the truck stop, eat what satisfies you, not what will fill you up to the point that you gotta be carried out in a wheel narrow. You dont want to be too full because you wont be able to drive. You dont want to have to drive all I-57 in Illinois on a full stomach...just saying

Like others said, Peanut butter and Tuna. The protein content per ounce is high in both. It's what we donate to food banks for food drives. Too much ramen will make you fat.

Before you leave home pick up a precooked rotisserie chicken and break it down into ziploc bags. 1st night (breast) 2nd night (leg) etc. Chop all leftover pieces up to mix with mayo= chicken sandwich, add an apple =5 dinners. Can of Campbell's Chunky soup, put in footwell of cab, under heater vents, pop the top, grab a spoon, hot meal anytime. Good luck!

Fill the water jug at the truck stop soda fountain. That water is filtered and okay to drink.

I went through a period of very low funds once. Turned out to be positive. I lost a lot of weight. I have battled my weight all of my life so it felt good to be thin again like in my younger years. Hot dogs , potatoes , ramen noodles , canned goods all seemed to be the cheapest. It was kinda fun to see how low I could get my food cost $$$ down to. I had it down to under $2 dollars per day. It is ALL psychological here in the states. No one NO ONE is starving or even short on food here. I have a friend who has been a social worker for 20 plus years he says anywhere in America there is any kind of population has food banks where you can get all the food a person needs. There’s a good idea , find out where the food banks in your areas are at. Should be able to get all the food you need. But If things get really bad though you could move to Venezuela or Cuba or maybe North Korea because they take care of there people there in those countries , they are socialist so they put people before profits. I bet it’s wonderful there.

How do you manage? You do what you gotta do. If you can borrow $200 from friends, family etc.. Then swallow your pride and borrow it, just make sure you pay back on THE DAY you said you would.
I have several friends and family members , I never have to worry about asking me ever again. They did not live up to their word. And pay back when promised. So I say I bought them off cheap and paid them to go away.

Everyone keeps saying do not take advance from company or pay day loan. I unequivocally DISAGREE! If you have no other resource, by all means take trip advance. Take as little as possible and spend like a miser. Or take payday loan for no more than $250. Go to dollar store and stock up on ramen noodles, water, tuna, etc.. Get thru that two weeks, then repay every cent 1st payday. Once paychecks start rolling in, dont go on spending spree. Do not forget what you had to do. Put money aside every pay day even if it's only $40.
