Heading north to Wisconsin I decided to take I65 to I74 west in Indiana, the exit ramp puts you on the left side ( Fast Lane ) of the highway of I74. I couldn't merge right immediately because the traffic rush wouldn't let me.
There was a cup waiting for me not too far ahead, seems like that is all they do at that exit, wait for a trucker that doesn't switch lane quick enough.
He pull me over and tagged doing 67 on 55 which I wasn't, and being on an improper lane.
I sent the ticket back, at first they gave me a court date, a week before the court date, they sent me another notice stating the meeting type had changed, it was now only a preliminary meeting with a prosecutor who gave me the option to reduce the ticket $30, discard the improper lane, and reduce the speeding ticket from 67 to 59 MPH.
Or else I would have to get another court date into the future with the judge, and he assured me not to do that because the cop that gave me the ticket is always there, he is never absence. He stated all this without me asking for anything.
I think this is all very crooked, the switch in dates and the options that he gave me.
I ask if I could keep the improper lane and drop the speeding for the same price, he agreed to it, he say he could drop one of the two which ever I wanted to but he recommended to keep the speeding because it was only 4 miles over and that carried less weight than the improper lane.
I still have the option to reply to him via email to either pay the $170 and keep the 59 mph ticket, or request a new court date with the judge, what do you guys think ?
Whis is worse to have on your records, a 4 miles over speeding ticket or an improper lane citation?
What are my chances of fighting this, paying the ticket, but getting rid of the points completely and the marks on my records ?
On my way back south, I took the same road i74 but going east, I wasn't even 10 miles into the stretch and I got pull over again for an inspection, the trooper came over, ask for all my documents, didn't even look at the truck, went back to his car, stayed there for about 7 minutes, came back, returned all my paper work with a report stating I passed, but he didn't inspect anything. I just got stopped, no tickets, nothing, that place is very weird, do not take i74 of i65 in Indianapolis.

If you have the opportunity I would try and fight it honestly. It's obviously in your best interest to try and get it thrown out, or have it negatively reflect on your CSA. Obviously, take that with a grain of salt as I'm not a driver, I work pretty closely with the safety department, and I'm seeing a lot of guys call in questioning if they should fight a ticket or not, the answer most often is yes.

If you're a good driver it will show if you're a bad driver it will show. Trucking Companies & insurance companies know cops & counties use tickets for revenue. I wouldn't lose no sleep over it unless you just want to fight either way you will lose time and money. I just know it is a revenue grab by these crooks. All the best to youDoealex Thanks this. -
unless you were inspected during your initial stop and those violations are on an inspection form, it doesn't affect your CSA(I think you mean PSP)
