    My husband drives OTR. He got sick and was in ICU, They used his 2 weeks backpay to finance another driver to take load, LIED ABOUT MAKING DEPOSIT..THEY KEPT AND SENT DRIVER TO DRIVE IT OUT OF AREA. Their truck we just paid. They called us selfish for bothering them. "We have send driver to recover trailer and tractor" They reset electronic logs from office.,to push you,,,started on 2nd load and threaten you with fines and job loss. My husband almost died. They kept 3400.00..partnership of several men. They will lie to you. Steal your pay.. Spouses beware because they will kick your I'll driver while hes down and profit from your hardship as you watch your love one lingering in bed

    Never, never work under a 1099 unless you are a truly Owner-Operator. If your husband was working a 1099 the chances of you having any legal recourse are very slim. I feel that your husband was "legally scammed" Get educated before stepping into a position such as this.

    They have zero recourse. The trucking company knows this which is why they push the 1099. That and avoidance of taxes.

    First and foremost, if you are a company driver using their truck a 1099 arrangement is ilegal. The employer knows this from the start. How does a driver expect to get treated in an illegal arrangement where there is no recourse?
