Good morning to all,
I changed the air water separator filter on my 03 D12. When I took the old filter off the base was filled with water. Removed all the water and installed the new filter. Everything works fine with the exception of when I turn off the truck it sounds like some back pressure by the compressor. It only happens for 15 to 30 seconds then stops. This did not happen when the old filter. Any suggestions as to why this could be happening now?
It is a TRP air cartridge if that info helps.
Thanks in advance!

You hear some air being released a few seconds after you shut down the truck?
That's normal. It's the solenoid control for the fan hub. It sits right above the davco filter. Maybe you moved something around when handling the filter and you hear the air escaping more than before. -
It is longer than a few seconds and the sound is in the area of the compressor pump in the engine compartment, not where the filter sits. The filter / davco filter's placement is on the frame, behind the cab, under the catwalk.

I guess there was a misunderstanding from your original post. Since you mentioned waterseparator, it made think about the davco.
Now to get things straight, I assume you changed the air dryer cartridge and the TRP cartridge would fit into this puzzle.
Does your air come off the compressor where the black lid is on the picture? Possibly from underneath the silver bracket reaching around the edge of the lid?
If so, it's the compressor cut off valve. There is a repair kit available at pretty much any parts store/shop. It did cost me about $100 three years ago and is easy to replace.
Unscrew the two bolts, remove lid (which is spring loaded), pull out piston with your little finger and replace O-Rings. Put things back together.
I think a TX25 wrench or socket was required to remove the two bolts.
