So I'm in Atlanta, pre dawn. Sun barely peeking out of the horizon. I'm trying to get onto 20 off the 285 and there is a pickup truck behind me looking like he's going to give me space to get into the right hand turn lane. So I'm focused on him. I put on my turn signal and start moving over. Looking at the pickup to ensure that he doesn't speed up, and also at my little mirror to ensure there is no one in my blind spot, I come over. At the last second, and thank god I didn't have my music or talk radio turned up, I hear a horn. There is a black car in my blind spot. No headlights on that I literally didn't see at all. I came within inches of pushing him into a guardrail that was on one of those little bridges. I bet he had to clean his shorts. I know I did. I think I would have seen him better if I wouldn't have been so focused on the pickup truck behind me and weather he was going to give me space to make the lane change. I should have looked harder in the little mirror to see if there was anyone beside me. But again, due to him (the pickup truck) seemingly backing off, I just came over. He wasn't giving space to me. He was giving space to the black car I almost killed. It was at the interchange and this black car thought it would be cool to just hang out in my blind spot with no lights on I'm not blaming him. I'm blaming myself. I should have not focused so much on the pickup. But at the same time, why would you, as a 4 wheeler sit on the blind side of a semi with NO LIGHTS ON pre dawn? It still gives me goosebumps thinking of what could have happened. Keep your eyes open folks. I sure as hell didn't. I was too comfortable. And too lazy. I didn't look hard enough.

Not that it would fix anything, but im convinced that there should be a sleeper cab semi w 53 foot van trailer set up at all testing stations, positioned around it fake people and cars painted florescent green, in all the blind spots. Take em on a walk around, make them count the cars and people. Then get in the seat and tell them how many can you see now? Get it. Good. Dont drive in blind spots!

Don't worry about it #### happens.
Or in this case it DIDN'T happen., that's all that matters.

    Just learn from the mistake.

I hear you. It does take the wind out of you though. I feel like I'm a ###### good driver. I consider myself a true professional. And when something like that happens, it really knocks you down a few notches. I should have seen him/her. I'm bigger and heavier. I should have been looking more. But for the most part, when a pickup truck is behind you giving room, you think it's ok to come over. I got too comfortable with that theory. And wasn't looking as hard as I should have. It was my bad. And I don't like making mistakes. Mistakes in this industry kills people. And I don't want to kill people. (For the most part).

If I would have had my music up, I wouldn't have heard the horn. If I would have moved over another foot or two, game over. And that's what disturbs me. This car was literally an inch from that guardrail. He/she was in the shoulder squeezing against the rail. And speeding up significantly to avoid being pushed into the river. I never want to make another person feel that way.

Did someone die? Nope. You kept it upright, yes. Consider it a victory and move on...let natural selection run its course. Those kind of idiots are so unaware of their surroundings...a falling tree limb, or slippery bath tub will do them in.

I agree. I think one day this person is destined to dance with the devil in a more violent fashion then he/she experienced with me. Maybe I saved his/her life from the next time they decided to run next to a tractor trailer pre dawn with no lights on. I bet the next time they do it, they'll remember my big ### coming over on them. I truly hope so. I'd hate for another driver to feel the same way I do only amplified ten fold by actual contact.

That was real smart on your part not to have your music and cb blareing.I also was impressed because you made sure that pickup wasn't going to do any stupid moves.Overall you did a great job.
