So, I lost a water pump belt last week. Engine got hot and lost a bit of coolant. Stopped overnight at a convenience store truck stop and bought some what I thought was red but maybe was orange anti-freeze concentrate and topped it off. Guy I'm working for is freaking out. What did I do? Anti-freeze I topped off with was Carquest dex-cool compatible. DD15 engine. Thanks in advance!!

Grubby and Canon Beach Thank this. -
It probably had decent cool already. Should be fine.

Drain it out. Okay in a pinch, but will cause problems later if left in.

Right on!! Thanks for the replies. Did a bit of further internet research and the consensus seems to be no big deal, just get a flush in the next couple of weeks and put in the OEM stuff and carry on!!! Thanks!!

If you had red AF already, that’s dex -cool. No need to worry. Won’t hurt to flush, but not necessary if you added compatible A/F. Mixing red with green causes problems. Originally dex-cool was made by Texaco, I had it turn to jello after sitting for 3 months. Since then there’s been class action lawsuits against GM. I Recently switched back to “ Final Charge”. Seems the original problems with red A/F have been resolved. A/F like oil never goes bad only the additives get depleted or A/F gets contaminated
