Been beating up this fourm for the last week or so had already decided to make a career change and get out of retail and go trucking but had no idea where to start and who was a good company so I applied to Millis yesterday hope to hear back soon studying to get my permit and trying to find a Dr to get my physical while I still have insurance. But just a couple questions for you guys that I have been unable to locate answers on here or their website:
How are Millis benefits?
How do they pay their sign on bonus?
Are Miles pretty consistent? been reading a lot some guys getting miles some not so many, does spring and summer offset the winter months?
Im from eastern NC around New Bern NC think it will be difficult to get home time see alot of loads in central and western NC
Thanks a head for any insight and advice
Jeff
Applied yesterday

Okay couple of things here for ya. You can get a physical at any urgent care for like $40 or so. I am not sure insurance covers DOT physicals.
benefits i cant comment on since i didnt take them. I am on my wife's government bennies which are way better.
I was not aware of any sign on bonus for new people. those are usually for truck drivers with experience.
Miles are pretty good for over the road drivers it does get slow in the winter but usually doesnt effect the OTR drivers as much as the Regional guys.
I am sure someone will chime in with more on the NC area. -
there are no requirements on who you get your physical from as long as they do DOT physicals.

Goodluck Quick!

Most companies will not accept DOT physicals in not done by a physician or clinic that they approve... so call and ask and don't waste money on a physical unless you just want to make sure you can pass one.. we have had drivers show up with DOT cards from a few days previous and they still are require to go to our approved clinic and get a physical.
-
Do you think I should wait or just contact the recruiter and get a list of approved clinics don't want to waste $$$
-
Okay seriously I work for Millis. Please quit responding to this guy if you do not work for the company he is applying to. Millis does not have "approved" clinics or physicians. Just go to your local doctor or urgent care.
MTownZ Thanks this. -
Appreciate all the replies just got off the phone with them and they do not hire out of my area said I was too close to the coast I suppose they don't hire anyone east of Raleigh NC so back to the drawing board for myself.
-
Yeah Millis doesn't have a list as far as I know. I just went to a local urgent care center and got mine done.

Sorry to hear that. Do some more research on here and I hope you can find a company that works for youLast edited by a moderator: Jan 28, 2013
