I'm just curious what kind of rates people are getting for refrigerated from Dallas area to Atlanta area. I read everywhere that demand has flattened and rates are falling.
are rates falling and will it continue?

I've been reading up on rates in general. We own a produce distribution company and are buying two trucks for sure, maybe three, due to our multiple pickup, drop-off and time requirements in Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. We're hoping to grab loads out of the Dallas area to Atlanta or thereabouts for the outbound portion of the trips.
I recall last year we paid brutally high rates, sometimes as much as $4.20 a mile and $150 a stop. From what I read now though, $2.50 may be the high. Will that change with April and the increase in traffic? Any information is well appreciated since we are creating our drivers' salaries based on the outbound rates as part of their pay package. -
It's a new world order. Pretty soon everyone will be poor except for corporate CEOs and politicians.
danny23tx and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Things will stay flat until early March. It's been a harsh winter and that slows everything down. I expect spring weather will improve the market considerably.

Why don't you try going somewhere different like maybe the North? East Coast? Folks have told me rates going Northeast are better and then in the south. My company told me that I would be running a lot of East Coast because that's where the best money is.

In May-June you will be paying a lot. The rest of the year you most likely won't, unless we get a couple of Hurricanes or some other crazy stuff happens

Thanks Dune-T. We talking about the $4 a mile type rates if I can pick your wisdom some more.

It’ll improve a little come spring but it won’t get to 2018 levels for sure. This year is going to be tough. Quite a few guys are gonna have to go broke unfortunately to get this back in line. Right now supply and demand is out of wack. However, I am a little thankful this is happening before a recession was to hit. That way if we were to have a recession which I don’t anticipate then atleast it would be bad but not doomsday bad. In other words this is a prethining of the herd vs a full on slaughter later on.
PE_T, Opendeckin, magoo68 and 3 others Thank this. -
they are predicting the rates are Goin to remain about where they are for the rest of the year. seems to me the Texas outbound freight is cheap right now
Bigman155 Thanks this.
