I could literally text my banker on a Sunday afternoon and let her know I needed a check for a new $200k truck in the morning….
She would text me back “ we can have the paperwork and check ready by 10 am Monday morning if that works for you?”

After in using a small bank I’m actually treated like a customer. Not some random peasant like in all my past years with big banks.

    it’s so refreshing.

I dont work at my dads steel shop, i put in 3 years and found that i can do everything needed except work under my father.

But for all his faults, he still has a structural and ornamental railing steel shop, employing 25 currently. And he started running it in the 70s. Its had its shares of ups and downs, but the lights are still on, thats pretty impressive given the ebbs and flows of the market he is in. Wish he wasnt such a pain to work with, id still be there.

Yea I know how that goes too. Wasnt an auction though they just use a realtor.... and then the small bank was gone and the new and improved big bank was born... I know all about what you are saying till that morning I woke up and seen my small bank in the news. Those “smart” bankers had made some foolish decisions and it cost me. I learned the hard way how those closed banks work now. I guess I am the one thats foolish though. I should have known more about how that worked and not backed myself into a corner I couldnt get out of.

Family can be the best to work for, or family can be the worst to work for.
Just as family can be the worst to do business with, or can be the best to do business with.

    Mine jumped $30k

I spent a whole day getting everything together and sent to NASTC for quotes..they initiated the interest in finding me cheaper insurance. They’re ignoring me now.

Florida increased 30% while the rest of the nation increased 17%

Prairie states and Midwest aren’t to bad. East coast and gulf coast is terrible. I can’t afford to lease on someone from those areas or generally run those areas. I tried and just can’t afford to. Rates on the east coast are not good either. So it’s time to avoid. Let the mega carriers have it, I guess..

I fear it's gonna get worse before it gets better for you guys

Exclusive: Trucking firm prepares long-shot bid for Yellow, seeks US Treasury support

Then there's this in the same article.....

"The Biden administration has embraced the nation's union workforce and has tried to drive down inflationary costs associated with spikes in transport costs, making any deal that keeps trucks and drivers on the roads politically attractive."

I'm not a political minded person, or even a truck owner at this point or an economist. I'm just a company schmuck. But this smells like a bunch of political hacks trying to keep a lid on freight rates and driver pay.
