AT&T is Rolling Out Wireless Home Internet in 9 New States - Cord Cutters News

Att owns directv and has plans to shut down the satellite services. Expects to have directvnow app rolling November 4. You need highspeed access however to watch directvnow. But that leaves many in rural towns with no tv as they have no access to highspeed internet. I see this as a good thing for cell phone coverage. We'll have less deadage. Although the speed won't be that great. One would think if they're going expand their footprint. They'd use the same technology as the more populated areas will soon be getting. Afterall. They're going to have to improve sooner or later and it makes no sense to plant the towers. Then later on make improvements to the towers.

If you have directv, directvnow will be your new tv. If you have dishnetwork, Sling will be your new tv. As dish owns sling. It's all new stuff so don't expect everything you're already getting right off the bat. Like the locals for instance. (Your market determines which locals you'll get, If any.) Or DVR capabilities. But hopefully all the services will be full swing next year.

Internet tv is coming. It's cheaper and requires no boxes or cables or dish's. And the owners won't have to pay for upkeeps and maintanance on satellites and boxes.
