Kansas intrastate authority is $250 and you have to attend 6 hour class here in Kansas. It's not a weight distance tax like New Mexico. You have authority to drive thru here just if picking and dropping same load in Kansas on both ends you have to have KCC authority.

Here in Kansas federal interstate authority is no good Kansas to Kansas. We ran a lot intrastate before getting never got in trouble and was inspected under load several times.

Yeah I think I better make some phone calls in the morning to the DMV and get this straight.I found a list of states that require intrastate authority it looks like about 29 of them do and Nebraska is one of them.I thought I explained to them when I licensed the truck that I would be doing both but guess I had better find out for sure.I found a web site that list the states //www.permitsplus.com/intraState.php

I would go to each state and apply for your intrastate authority directly. I checked a few of the fees listed on the above link. They are very high. You will save a lot of money going direct to the states.

I think Texas is the only state that requires that. I ignore it like everyone else. I don't think anyone is going to check anyways. I know Canadians can only deliver to the US then deliver only to Canada but I'm right there with them loading non stop in the U.S. delivering to the U.S. Nobody is enforcing those rules at all.

I think the only states you might have a problem with would be Texas and perhaps California. I have never been asked for my intrastate authority papers and I have been doing this for some years. If you only engaged in intrastate freight, then I would look closer at obtaining intrastate authority.

Thanks everyone for the advise, this is my first year as owner operator,I have not done any intrastate anywhere but my base state of Nebraska,I assumed that because my truck is registered here that the authority covered intrastate and interstate but that does not appear to be the case.
