Which trucks have the best automatic transmissions? Which companies do their cdl training in automatic trucks?

The DD15/DT12 combo is very nice.
So, trucks with the Detroit combo. They were designed to work together as a single unit.

No idea for the second question.

Fabulous Maximus and tscottme Thank this.

The worst one I have ever driven was a brand new Freightliner with a Mercedes engine.

From my understanding Volvos are the only trucks that currently have engines and Automated transmissions that are specifically DESIGNED to "talk" to each other fully. Volvo engine, Volvo transmission.

That was my experience and it's a perfect match.

    I've said it before...
Driving a Volvo is like playing a piano duet with a partner who really knows what he's doing. It's sheer pleasure.
Driving a Pete 579 with eaton auto is like playing a piano duet with a partner who hasn't learned how to play piano yet.
That darn eaton. Sometimes backing was like a kicking mule.

Yeah, no easing into a dock; more like slamming into it and doing some serious damage plus shifting the load.
I drove that Volvo pulling hazmat tankers & ran 48 states and Canada; never exhausted at the end of a driving period.

I guess your understanding is a bit flawed.
Detroit has the DD15/DT12 combo, which was DESIGNED in the same way.

Didn't I mention that a few posts above this?

A simple auto tuned to its engine. When it's time to shift up and down while you are reaching for it...

A auto with a standing manual mode so you can stay in one gear upgrade or down all day.

A auto without BS 2-3 or 4-5 cruise satellite support telling it that it is going over a hill....

a auto that simply allows you to pivot and back loaded to the nuts without throwing you out of the cab.,..

A auto that will not strand you in three inches of wet snow...

And most importantly, a auto not casterated or effed beyond reason by a company dweeb who does not drive at all....

    etc etc etc etc.

Simple thoughts and needs I am. Otherwise I'll take a manual.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

I agree with a couple of those, but I have no problem backing when I am heavy or light with the Detroit.
It does not bounce me out of the cab. But it does take a light foot.

Your first one doe not make sense.
'A auto with a standing manual mode so you can stay in one gear upgrade or down all day.'
    That is asking for trouble.
