Yea, that's a no brainer, cheaper to contract it out. Sad though but true

A few years ago we had owner ops pulling our linehaul loads.

They're not doing it anymore. They all told me they just weren't making anything off it, not to mention the extra fuel of pulling pups.

I never worked for them and even while I was in the trucking school, I knew to stay away from them. Absolute crap pay. Like .20 cpm or some ####. Basically, the guy who started the company was a former marine. I guess he wanted to model it after the military.

Crap pay, Crap hours, uniforms, getting treated like crap, never home, etc. I mean, don't get me wrong, nothing with military service but Averitt ain't the military LOL

Not defending any company, but you need to get your facts straight. .20cpm? Really
Most if not all TL guys get home every weekend

You're right, you've never worked for them.

When I started with them back in 2012 they did .37 cpm out of trucking school

Today they start at .42 I believe and regarding home time, I've never missed a weekend at home, unless I wanted to run the weekend for more money.

Averitt is pretty laid back from my experience, Just pick up and deliver on time and they pretty much leave you alone. nothing military about that.

I could understand some people not liking uniforms but most people don't mind them, if you've seen how most people dress in the truck stops, I don't blame them for requiring a uniform, especially for the LTL city drivers. as most LTL city drivers wear uniforms. FedEX Freight,UPS Freight,AAA Cooper, Old Dominion ect

My only gripe is they pay the zip to zip miles but seems that's pretty par for the coarse with trucking companies.

That's about what they were boasting for the trucking school grads. Had one of their guys there talking about getting experience and all that and it was under .30 cpm. This was in 2013. I stand by what I said about the pay. I remember it very clearly because everyone as trash talking them after the recruiters left (they had a little recruiting expose towards the end of the six weeks). Definitely not something I'd forget.

I will guarantee you that in 2013 Averitt TL was paying more than .30cpm. Either you heard wrong or the recruiter spoke wrong

Unless they changed in the last year or so they are not starting anyone more than .36 or .37. Not .20 but not over .40. And not laid back at all.

Wear a Averitt sweatshirt instead of the button up collar shirt and you get wrote up. Don't stay perfectly groomed by there standards and you get written uo.

They micromanage you to death and definitely not laid back. Rather retentive instead.

Don't know about micro managing, but to say Averitt starts or in 2013 started drivers out less than 30cpm is just wrong. You think you will ever get back in a truck, or become an owner operator?
