You'll lose a lot more than 100 bucks if you fail an inspection.

It doesn't matter if you own the truck, if you operate it as a commercial driver, you are saying that you feel the truck is in safe mechanical condition. If it can be proven otherwise, the ticket will be steep. Can be thousands. Over 13,000 dollars.

If you knowing operate a truck that is in an unsafe mechanical condition, you should expect to get nailed if you get inspected. But there are some scales (US59, Queen City, Tx for example) that I can avoid without adding miles. So I do.

Shoot go up 8 at Linden and turn right in Maud, puts you right into Texarkana. Those guys at Queen City are out for blood. I think half those guys wives must have had affairs with truckers.

Depends on where I'm coming from I may do just that. But usually I'm coming from Houston so I hit 79 at Carthage to Shreveport I20/I220 to 3 to 29 in Ar to I30. Less than one mile difference from straight up 59 and I miss the Hope scale too.

Heck yeah. Good idea! I usually just run up 67 around that one too. It does add about ten minutes going through downtown Hope, but who cares?

    “just run legal”....LOL
Yeah because it’s all about safety.

I choose to avoid their little revenue game by whatever means necessary.

Exactly. We all know how many lives that reflective safety tape has saved or god forbid how dangerous a blown marker light is!

    Yeah right !

You can throw that “newer equipment” BS out also..

Roanoke gave me a full inspection on a truck that had less than 2k miles on it....On my first trip out when the pricks pulled me in.
Single digit temp winter day with the wind blowing hard....Tell me that wasn’t a quota or revenue grab..

    “Just run legal”
    “Just run newer equipment”

    yeah ok...

I really do run legal but you know they will find something. Plus it's a time issue. I'd rather spend ten minutes instead of risking one hour held up for an inspection
