It doesn't matter if you own the truck, if you operate it as a commercial driver, you are saying that you feel the truck is in safe mechanical condition. If it can be proven otherwise, the ticket will be steep. Can be thousands. Over 13,000 dollars.6wheeler Thanks this. -
If you knowing operate a truck that is in an unsafe mechanical condition, you should expect to get nailed if you get inspected. But there are some scales (US59, Queen City, Tx for example) that I can avoid without adding miles. So I do.

You can throw that “newer equipment” BS out also..
Roanoke gave me a full inspection on a truck that had less than 2k miles on it....On my first trip out when the pricks pulled me in.
Single digit temp winter day with the wind blowing hard....Tell me that wasn’t a quota or revenue grab..
