Ok, so Im starting to get into heavy haul. Had a driver one day tell me to always check the permit and axles spacing. So I'm wondering if you guys could explain axle spacing and how you adjust for that on a rgn? Thanks in advance.

That's a strange question, you're embarking on a heavy haul career and don't understand axle spacings?

Only axle adjustment you can do on a "run of the mill" RGN is sliding the 5th wheel, I mean it's not like you can slide them like on a van.

You need to know the axle spacing requirements in the states you run in before you ever take a job and order permits.

Unless it's a stretch or has inserts.

Check your permit for axle spacing. Yes, so they are accurate with the axle spacings your equipment has.
Had a NY permit. My trailer spacing recorded as 4'6". Actual was 10'1".
I was legal for the weight I was carrying, the trooper had me get a new permit because of the wrong measurement.

Axle weight table can be found in the front pages of most road atlas's
    Good luck.

Axle weight table in the atlas will be of no help in heavy haul.

That’s why I prefaced my post with “run of the mill RGN”.

I’ve seen lowboys with all kinds of stuff that changes the spacing but they aren’t your average RGN. Extendables, replaceable decks, inserts, stingers, etc. I’ve even dealt with trailers that you can change the spacing width wise, as in dual lane.
