I am in phase 1 with C R England after they refuse me to do a refresher course trucking school. I have 129 hours in phase 1 and only got 3 hours of backing so so and they want me to upgrade to phase 2 when I can’t back for ####. how can I learn to back when they don’t give me any hours to learn to.The way that I feel is like just be a steering wheel holder do my 10-11 hour a day 500 miles and that’s it.

How do you have a CDL if you can't back?

You’ll learn on the road. Scary as hell. Good luck.

Talk to the Driver Manager. It is why you have one. Tell them you dont feel confident with your backing skills. They will either get youu more hours or a different trainer.

Ran team with a guy in the last 80's. He had driven 10 years, still could not back.
Easy way to learn, big parking lot and back up until you give out. I could back years before I started driving in 1984. Backed a 14ft boat trailer with a lawnmower.

The hardest thing in the world to back, you can get your hands on very easily.... a jet ski trailer. The shorter the wheelbase the harder it is. If you have friends with anything small, try to practice on small things like that and thru all the frustration you’ll begin grasping the concept. I’ve backed trailers my entire life and how I always taught people is when you’re completely confused just place your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and whichever your hand goes, the trailer will always follow. Good luck man....you’ll get it, it may take time but you will.

What is phase one? Is that where you initially get your CDL?

Look on the bright side. When youre backing at a truckstop with cr england on the side , you will hsve plenty of drivers helping you especially if you backing beside their truck. I know i do. Lol.
