I dropped my trailer at a yard while I had a transmission put in. The amount of room was about the same. I did one extra thing. I pulled the fifth wheel too. Once you pull the fifth wheel you have to pull the kingpin out before it will reset in order to rehook (at least with Holland F35). So unhook, push her into the hole, dump air and pull air lines and cord, then you're out of there.

But I was a little out of my comfort zone right there and I try to push myself out as much as safely possible.
I just don't want to hit anything while doing that. And I didn't this time, which is good. Came #### close, glad I tried though.Just passing by, black_dog106, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
Number 1, if its to tight put it somewhere else.. If you hit anything its on you. Number 2 pull out as far as you need don't worry about it what if someone does not like it, I try to pull out till I can see both sides aligning with the hole, if possible. Sometimes you can, but then sometimes you can't. Never let someone else oush you onto a bad situation. I probabbly have put hundreds of trailers over the years in the works spot, and I never have had anyone say anything. If the Dog dont like hell move it.

If there’s room out front slide em back so you don’t have to sweat the tail swing.
the tail swing is what gets most guys I’ve seen.
if it’s just too tight man find an easier hole or a yard guy to do it. Try try and try again but know when it’s time to quit
Your company would rather hear about the driver who made a yard truck back a trailer in instead of the guy who was over there backing by feel lol.
Everyone else can wait while you’re backing up.
If they need to hurry that bad they can get out an help!!!!! (Try to be courteous but safety is #1 always)Rideandrepair, truckdriver31, TravR1 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Slide your tandems all the way back so your swing doesn't hit blindside trailer.
Always get out an triple check.
People can wait all day if they have to.TravR1, Rideandrepair and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
I was just at a dc that was tight as duck; guards apparently called me first for that block of appts and I was the first thru the gate. They’ve lost lots of drivers and as a result have empties jammed in every where. Someone was still in my hole and since I try to avoid blindside, I u-turned. Now I’m facing a long line of trks and there was nowhere for me to park and wait without also blocking them from backing.
I think this happened last time I went there as well, except I was able to go to the end of that “line” and turn around; this time I had to go all the way out just to turn around again and the guards weren’t happy. I went back in and the docks had filled up and I had to drive to the very end before I could turn around.
So, I essentially drove past my hole 3 times and was a simple sight-side back on our 4th meeting. I don’t care; your dcs being tight is not my problem and not an excuse for me to rush, I’m just as happy to wait and let the other trucks go first.
I got detention for that ####show.
I’ve been to Tysons where you have to play bumper cars just fit in the hole; people were dropping in the aisles, so I just dropped it next to them. Let the yard jockeys fix the mess.Last edited: Sep 5, 2021

the problem is holding up people for long periods of time. after 2 attempts. hop out of the way and let traffic by. then try again. i say this cause i seen it take folks 15 minutes or more. i dont disagree at all with slow and goal. i just disagree with you tying up traffic for long periods of time.

Sounds like you’re doing a fine job. I had about 5 tough back ups yesterday. Goal plenty of times. The blind side is tricky. Can’t check it enough. No right or wrong way. If one ways not working, start over another way. I tend to do a lot of short pull ups and back ups, have to get it just right with my Truck, it doesn’t follow the Trailer well. Keep concentrating, Goal as many times as needed, and then some. Beware of the Well meaning helpful spotter, Truckdriver or not. It’s nice if they watch the blind side, and stay in view of your mirror, but when they start telling you which way to steer, when to pull up, etc. They’re liable to to cause an accident.
