I have a volvo ved12 2005 and I think I picked up some serious bad fuel, I was puttering and stallingg out about halfway through the day,the day after, I had to stop and prime it for a few minutes everytime it would die, the next day I replaced both fuel fitlers and ran well for half of the day and then the same thing happened? I always get it started again and it runs fine for a couple miles before it starts puttering and stalling out. Sometimes I get clear white smoke coming out of the stacks and sometimes I don't. My question is has anyone ever gotten fuel thos bad or does this sound like something other than bad fuel any input or advice would be greatly appreciated
bad fuel?

Also my fuel filter water separator keeps filling up with cloudy diesel ive been sitting here for an hour constantly draining it
-
sounds like bad fuel or some kind of trash running through the filters and stopping them up the filters will more than likely need to be replaced again along with cleaning the tank and putting fresh fuel in the tank
-
You have any enemies that may have spiked your tanks with sand or sugar?
-
I'm starting to wonder that I did have this crazy ex that had messed with my vehicles, before what could I do if that we're there case

Look in the tanks with a flashlight - if there's major contamination you should see it on the bottom of the tanks.
It's also possible that you got a load of biodiesel. Bio will wash all the collected and built-up crud out of your fuel system and into the filters. If that's the case, you'll just have to keep changing filters as they plug, until the crud has been cleaned from the system. -
My guess would be water in the fuel; if the water is dark gray or black, there is probably microbial growth. If the station tank was just filled before you filled out of it and there was water that didn't settle out, you might have gotten a good shot of water contaminated fuel, the white smoke could be water causing the engine to miss because it is overwhelming the water separation capacity of the filters. It happened more in years past, and not just with diesel.
I got a bad fuel up once from a recommended fuel stop, less than 50 miles and the truck wouldn't run,the filter was clogged with gunk.
It was the Cummins fuel filter on an ISX, filters to a smaller particle size. I don't know how particular a Volvo engine is about fuel, the ISX is particular. -
