Bad situation with Co-Driver

    Alrighty,

    Finished training August 14th... CRST is team only and I wanted and needed to get back on road ASAP so I just grabbed the first person I was in contact with for a Co-Driver. This situation is really horrible, I don't have much time to explain the full story right now, but I need to find the proper way to get off this truck without losing my job. I have talked to my Dispatcher Friday and obtained other numbers for new Co-drivers, so far unsuccessful, but the Dispatcher ensured me we were "coded" for a terminal......... 2 loads later, there seems to be no terminal in the near future. Im in Polk City, Fl currently and the ignorant racist Co-Driver I have knows I want off the truck and seems to be going out of his way to make my experience here a very bad one, hurling insults at me and what not, basically taking over the entire truck. I am a pacifist by nature and really dont know how to handle this properly....

    Now Ive mulled options... I can get off the truck right here, right now. Im pretty much broke, but Im sure family will help me get home. And I will be out of a job Im sure and screwed on DAC too boot.....

    Option 2... Leave this guy right here at the lovely truck stop and take off with the truck for the next load. I have no clue how the company will handle that, but if I knew for sure it wouldnt get me fired... Id be on my merry way right now..

    I dont know how else to handle this, but I do know that I will end up off the truck at some point if Im forced to continue to deal with this man,or I may lose my temper and explode, either way... Id like someone else's point of view or any experienced kind of advice on what I can do.

    I feel almost kidnapped at this point. Not too mention he is going through all my personal belongings and treating my stuff (this laptop included) like he owns it.

    Also have another issue, my cell phone broke about 2 days ago... I have insurance AT&T, but they can only send the new phone to my home they cant give me one through any licensed outlet, I went to one here this afternoon.. So if I leave the truck, my lines of communication are kind of cut off a bit also..

    Thanks for your time, any advice is greatly appreciated

    Let your dispatcher know that you feel physically thearten at best and at worst your life is in danger by your co-driver regardless of being male or female. Also contact the HR and Saftey Deptartments with the same concerns and at the first opportunity get away from your co-driver. Driving for CRST IS NOT worth your well being or your life. A job can be replaced you can't be.

    Dispatcher is gone until tomorrow morning and so is the HR and Safety depts... Plus they are running maintenance on Qual Comm tonight for 4 hours.... Their weekend crew is skeleton as well with 4 "dispatchers" to handle the whole fleet, its kind of a joke.

    i will be contacting them tomorrow though for sure. My issue is that Im new, and I dont want to be let go for this. I feel like Im causing problems here and even if I get to the terminal they will terminate me or something of that nature. Ive heard horror stories of similar situations. Everything depends on this too, if I lose the job, I seriously doubt anyone will give me a chance again, I applied at 72 companies before this one finally gave me a chance and if something goes on my DAC even that was only employed a month... I worry about that

    I'm not gonna call this advice....but the very second he touched my stuff without asking, it would be the last thing he remembered doing when he woke up in the hospital...if he woke up.

    I guess thats why I never bothered with team driving...

    Hopefully somebody has an idea that will help you...

    I used to be a victim...til I turned 3.

    The reason why your co-driver is bullying you is because he can. You let him. You gave him permission. He has absolutely no respect for you or your belongings because you let him know early on that he did not have to. Dont know how you did this, but you did.
    Want out of a bad situation? Get bad. Type all over the drivertech/qualcomm that this guy is threatening you with bodily harm and that you need a terminal tommorrow.

    Smile at your co-driver.

    Let dispatch know that you will be in touch with HR and legal counsel if need be and that your situation is volatile.

    Smile at your co-driver.

    Send in a message saying that you are in peril. Just a couple words... real simple.

    Smile at your co-driver.

    Drive to the nearest CRST yard from your current location and get out of the truck, go inside to the terminal manager and play the weak and defenseless pacifist role to the teeth. Not as much fun as trying to kill him, but I am trying to see things from your perspective.

    Unless you really do feel physically threatened, which I didn't see you mention, stand your ground and let him know what is acceptable with you. Like mentioned, people only act that way when you let them.

    Crazyeyes Make sure you QC dispatch and keep letting me know you have a problem with your co-driver. Then delete what you wrote. At least it's on corps copy of qc for later CYA. Also I know you said you were broke, but if you can get a go phone and have your number switch to it, so you at least have a phone on you.They are less them $20.00. You need it in case your co-driver dumps you somewhere. Plus if you have the phone on you and if he kills you off and buries your body the cops will find your body with the GPS device in the phone. Just saying.

    I'm not offering this as advice, and don't reccommend that you do this, but I'd leave the bugger first chance I got. Head straight to the house, clean out the truck, and turn it back in. I don't get paid enough to put up with anybody else's crap. But I am a solo driver by nature, and hate sharing space with other people. And yes, I'm also single for the same reason. Anybody messes with my crap, that body gonna get hurt, boy howdy!

    But you are going to have to either learn to stand up for yourself, or tuck your tail between you legs and run away. OK, so you have a pacifist personality. Fine. But there is a limit that each and every one of us has. This is going to be up to you, as to how you handle it.

    While I really do not advocate physical violence, really, I don't, you are gonna have to find a way to deal with people like this. You will find them everywhere, not just in trucking, but in life. It is really great if it is a situation that you can walk away from. But when you are stuck with the situation, as you are, you need to "grow a set" and deal with this guy.

    It doesn't mean you have to become a "bad arse," but you do have to be strong enough mentally to stand up for your rights. Unfortunately, in this business, and in particularly the company you have mentioned, there are a number of these jerks that will screw with you if they can.
