You are wrong and you're lucky you have not been audited. I hope for her sake your girlfriend's mother does not specialize in tax accounting. Here is the proof straight from the IRS:

Entertainers and athletes get to deduct some of their clothes and I can't? There's something very wrong with that.

Truth be told, the IRS can kiss the back of my spiffy Carhartt jeans. I'm going to take my chances and deduct my clothes.

Thanks, we actually have two accounts now, a business account and a personal. I will probably convert the business to a regular checking so that my wife can be on it too. I think that will be the simplest way to budget money while i am gone on the road. If they are joined then transfers will be easy if something outside budget should come up. We are with a national bank so that there is always a free ATM close by

Gone are the days of Reagan and simplified taxes. Every one is a special interest group and has to get their 'exception' to the rules. I will try my best to keep my political beliefs out of the forums though

Actually I have been audited and nothing has ever been said. Again, no offense but I'm going to take the word of a tax specialist over a trucker!

I just bought a USA today to read in the toilet. Since I read a story about diesel fuel prices, can I deduct the dollar I paid for it as an educational expense?

Hahahaha I think it falls under entertainment since most of the reporting is fiction anyway

If you used it as toilet paper it may be possible to deduct for travel expenses.

Charli Girl, use the auto categories once it learns what receipts or transactions go to a category importing is prety easy and you only need to correct a few of them.
