I started taping up some bad spots on my battery cables and then things started looking really bad.

Tape up the bad spots and replace the bad battery connector OR new cables?

Save yourself the headache and replace them now if you can afford it.

Replace. Last thing you need is to be stuck somewhere and your truck won't start, road calls are expensive.

Wow those are in such great shape, you need to put them back and park the truck because it isn't goin anywhere with those great cables.

Seriously I haven't seen that bad of a set in a long time.

They would be destined for the scrap pile.

Many Fords of that vintage had a bad habit of having aluminum cables and not copper. The aluminum ones broke down from heat faster and corroded worse than the copper. In one pic the wire strands look aluminum. Regardless. They are junk.

Winter road treatment will wick itself all up into that with or without tape. There's a reason new ones are all sealed up tidy and neat.
