A few months back I was stopped of the 401 East of Toronto . The OHP asked for my paperwork . He said everything was o.k. . Citizens were complaining about them not stopping trucks enough so they were stopping trucks to keep the public happy .![]()

Omg can you hear my eyes rolling? That's total stupidity.
Red Hot Mess Thanks this. -
Really stupid because they have the speed limiters up there. The cars fly up there and the trucks are at a steady speed. It only goes to reason that the speeders will be almost all cars.bullhaulerswife Thanks this.

It's the usual holiday "safety" push. Every year at the same times same places! If parked in a rest area especially on 70 and someone starts to knock on the door do NOT answer the drivers door because you have to sit in the drivers seat and those Bozos use that as an excuse that you are now on duty even if you were there for an hour! After the first time I fell for that back in 96 or so,so I never got out of the bunk! I would open the vent and yell in a nice polite voice" Go away I don't need any" and shut the vent. It never failed, If I could have seen their faces I know that they had the deer stuck in the headlights look! Oh, they'd knock again and I'd scream this time, WHAT?? and I would get the cops "I need to do whatever" as I'd rock the sleeper a bit so I could get closer to the vent and tell him that I'm off duty and asleep and if he wants to see anything it would be in 6 or 7 hours (old rules) and to come back. That pees them off big time and if he "ordered" me out I'd tell him he needed to get his watch commander out to the truck or he could sit there and wait for me as I was OFF DUTY and if I touched that log book or had to do anything work related I would have to start my 8 over again so I'm not showing you anything until I'm back on duty! Oh they can argue all they want and even come up with some BS thing that he's an officer of the law and he thinks you are doing something illegal and is ordering you to do something!
Now back before cell phones got cheap enough it was hard to get help from the police. But now when some ####### officer with some god complex wants to wake you up to see your book a call to 911 screws up their day.
I watched one idiot cop at the rest area west of Columbus use his nightstick on the sleeper of this truck and left a bunch of dents in the side. The driver came unglued and almost put him on his arse but he told the guy that he was going to give him all his information or call for his boss and backup because someone was going to pay for the repairs. Well the cop was maybe 50 pounds lighter and a foot shorter than the driver so he went and called for backup, the driver walked to the building and called the sheriffs department. He won and the officer got his arse chewed out and the driver got his sleeper fixed and a new paint job!
It always worked to confuse and over come and somehow someone made a big stink to the governors office via registered letters with law suit threats and they pretty much stopped waking drivers up unless they knew they had been there longer than 8 hours!
