Ok, I just became insulin dependent a couple weeks ago. I was working with one of my safety directors that has been in this industry for awhile and he said that there is something new coming down the pipe as far as insulin. Seems that it has been found that people on insulin are no more dangerous on the roads then people without and that they either may or have removed the waver requirements to operate a commercial truck. I tried some searching on this issue but for some reason could not come up with anything concrete on this. I am really at a loss here. I was sidelined this fall for 2 months with medical issues, I finally got back into the truck against doctors orders because I ran out of things to sell to pay bills. Now it seems I am sidelined for possibly 6 months (180 ish days). No other jobs available within driving distance and I will be abolutely bankrupt and out on the streets with a 6 year old. I can't find anything else in the form of temporary disability or other ways to keep some kind of money coming in to keep the lights and heat on in the house. Other then letting the family have my life insurance policy.

Their is a wavier that can have you back in the seat. Check the FMCSA web site for details.
I know that their are a bunch of hoops you must jump through. -
There's some courier driving jobs that don't require cdl or DOT medical card.
Maybe find one of those on Google. Don't remember the screen name, but someone posted last week he does that. -
I have an exemption, im not currently driving as I mostly need my CDL for our farm. I was at my endocrinologist today and he said that they are talking about doing away with the waiver program. I guess well have to wait and see.
here is the link to my page on getting my exemption.
