I needed to know that all is cool with you two. These days it can be dangerous to throw around concepts like bad things online trying to complete a discussion which may or may not go well.

I appreciate you taking time to write.

No harm no foul I do not know him personally or does he know me any precieved threat would be very difficult to perform unless someone in administration gives out personal information .
I have no problem . I will continue try to rid this industry of people who do drugs and abuse alcohol while engaging in cmv

I was not threatening you. If it came across that way I apologize.

I agree there is no place for people who abuse alcohol while driving a CMV.

My question for you is what drinking is ok? Do you think if someone holds a CDL they should not ever drink?

If a driver is local and goes home every night is it ok for him to have a couple beers with dinner at 7PM, go to sleep and get up and go to work the next day at 8AM?

If yes then what about a OTR guy? If he stops for the night should he not be able to drink a couple beers before going to sleep?

Again I am 100% against drinking and driving. I am against drinking all night and driving hungover. Abusing alcohol is bad. Merely drinking alcohol doesn't mean you are abusing it though.

A law is already stated because a drunk will do stupid ####. You a equipment with the ability to kill thousands and you have a person who is not able to be in control

Just drinking does not equate to being drunk. I don't like being drunk but I frequently will have a beer or two with dinner when I am not planning on driving until the next day.

Clearly the FMCSA states it is OK to carry alcoholic beverages in a CMV while it is being used for personal reasons while off duty. If one is sleeping in their truck while parked at a truck stop isn't that personal reasons while off duty. I don't know.

That sounds like purely PC. Not sleeping.

But are you ever really off duty from that truck unless staying in a hotel or friends house?
As long as you have control of the keys to the truck in your possession and truck is near you .
I do not know but I would bet most officers says your off duty on your logs but not by his interpretation of the law.Ask one next time you get insp .
