I agree with some of what was said, but some of it is BS. These are low paying, hard working OTR jobs with shady megas, not CEO positions at [insertcorporategianthere]. Sure, if you have a criminal background that you flat out fail to disclose and they find out, you'll probably be sent home. But if you forget that you worked at Burger King for three months instead of two back when you were 17, there's no way they're going to cut you loose. They're looking the other way when noobies can't shift or back to save their lives, I highly doubt they're kicking people out for forgetting a couple of employment dates...
Before you even apply...

Thanks, thats what I was looking for. I guess I had a paridigym that I should be looking for a company/service to perform the search. Quite familiar with google, I spent a day looking for county records, and finally went with a service that claimed to check state, local, and national records. I can assure you it did nothing but check the balance of my credit card to make sure the processing fee would clear.
I appreciate your help another $65 ontop of the 30 yesterday and I should have my records in 10 days. Still amazes me that a business can get my records easier than I can get my own. -

Do trucking companies go back and check evaluations that an applicant received while on active duty in the U.S. military, from day one all the way up to the time the applicant was discharged from the military?

Charlami Thanks this.

How far back are they concerned with?
I have been a union electrician for more than 20 years , so getting my employment history will be no problem right down to start/layoff dates. -
Look at it from.a different angle... If a new driver gets assigned his truck and bit the roads, then two weeks out be runs into a minivan killing a mother and her three children.. the company will have to show that they ran a background check and did everything reasonable to make sure this drive r could be and would be responsible..
I know here where I live in the Midwest, anytime a semi crashes, be it a roll over, low bridge, whatever, even if there ore no injuries.. it is all over the news and the driver's past always gets brought up.. how long he was a driver, and so forth..they, the news media, love it if the driver has a spotty past.. it makes the story more ratings worth if they can say a driver with speeding tickets and a history job hopping was Behind the wheel.. and, then you can bet they will follow it with a segment about.. "Truck Driver's.. do companies know who is behind the Wheel"
So, the companies, especially the CDL mills need to cover their own.. if they can statistically show that 27% of those attending orientation don't make it through their stringent screening process.. then they will do what they need to keep that % (I made up the 27%.. just for example)Charlami Thanks this. -

I am..of telling people to go online and pay a bunch of money to the first site they see offering background checks... Much of it you can do for free.. it may take time, but it can be done.. you can go to hour local SSA office and have them ll your employment records.. you can utilize public information for your arrests and stuff.. you can get a record of your DMV report..
However there are also sites where for a fee they will do it for you.. but, like with everything, I would research and check which one you want to go through..
And, of course you can choose not to.. if you feel it is unnecessary and you know your information well enough then good.. but, for me, I like the insurance of being prepared and knowing everything is accurate and verified...
When I was in school.. I remember there was some sort of apppak think.. think that is what they called it.. and, it was for tru k driver jobs.. it was a service that verified all your information and you could turn in... I didn't sign yp.. but, I remember there was something offered...
