Witnesses to Wednesday's deadly crash involving a freight train and a bus say that the charter bus appeared to be trapped on the tracks just ahead of the crash that killed at least four people and injured dozens more in Biloxi, Miss. Transportation agencies say the crossing is a known problem. Intersection has a steep grade that has led to issues in the past. "Just in January, a delivery truck was hit by a train at the crossing, there have been fatal accidents at this intersection at least twice before." There have been 16 vehicle-train collisions at this grade crossing over the last couple years. The train was traveling at around 19 mph when it struck the bus and pushed the crowded vehicle some 200 feet down the tracks. Engineer had all 52 cars and three engines in emergency stop as it approached the bus. Railroad grade crossings were the scene of more than 2,000 accidents across the U.S. last year. Those incidents resulted in 265 deaths. Trains are approximately 6,000 tons of steel.

I just finished watching Cspanwj where a black college graduating class got rowdy over a speaker, the head marm threatened them a choice. Sit shut up and get diploma today or go home and get it mailed. The class continued to make noise.

Ive been to college. Never thought I would go but I did. Never mind the thought that half the kids in class could be children by age. ugh. The other half was military trying to get something going for when their 4 year enlistment is up. They ended up getting called to war overseas. Im not yet finished with college. The state police will be training against terrorists and active shooters in my state beginning 26th dec Ive already arranged for such training so that the license will get a gold star rating and I will no longer be prey at the college library. (Along with thousands of others.... who will be training as well)

That oughta flip em out. And what are we doing with playdoh and crayons? The last time we used a safe space was against a tornado that passed about a mile long ago. It ought to have stopped within 200 feet in emergency with that bus. 19 mph aint nothing.

Try 80 where I am for freight and 79 for amtrack which is the rated speeds for the dual main. We have had drunks high center cars before late at night, lo and behold here comes one. Usually they ran which saved them.

Sometimes TWO trains run side by side executing a rolling meet one slightly slower than the other. The ground shakes when they both hit the crossings at the same time one at 50 and the other at 40 4 to 5 engines each.

 

Can you explain how this works and what would be required ?

As of my opinion today, you cannot take that to California. Your friend will have to find a shipper with a truck capable of going there. Remember I am not a lawyer nor should i pretend to be one. California would wag the National dog many times in my life. You think these United States are not California compliant. We should cut them loose or sell them for the cost of the Natl debt or something. /sarc.
