Blind Loads!!!

    I realize that blind loads are not illegal but I also know they are not suppose to have any idenifying marks, logos, packaging or wrapping or anything indicating the shippers source. I have been delivering alot of bind loads so far this year and some of those rules,,, especially the idenifying of products are being broken. I have not had any problems with DOT as of yet when going through the scales but sooner or later it is coming?

    I am seeking the advice of more experienced drivers, even owner/operators who have had experience with blind loads.

    I hate the inherent dishonesty of a blind shipment, but I've never had a problem with the DOT in doing one, either.

    Besides, nobody is actually fooling anybody with these "blind loads" anyway. It's just stupid corporate level BS.

    If there’s hazmat involved it must be identified per federal regs, regardless who might be offended by that because they’re afraid of somebody finding the same product somewhere cheaper.

    No. No Hazmat. But just the whole thing of being told not to say a word about the load when i get there. I mean i know they don't won't any info given out about the load but again when it is easily identified. Then the reciever isn't dumb and they can see the logos and wrapping all over it. The last load i delivered in lousiana got pretty demanding about wanting to know where the load came from.

    It's simple scheme. You have nice basement and computer. You put advertising for America made hard wood furniture. You ordered this furniture from China with requirements not to mark where it was made and who is original shipper.
    I like your furniture and agree to buy. Shipment arrived with such paperwork I can not trace original manufacturer or shipper.
    Some people call it fraud but some capitalism.

    It can be a few different scenarios.

    A reciever buys a product from a shipper, the shipper can buy the same product from another supplier cheaper for some reason. So the load is shipped from the second shipper, but made to appear to the reciever as though it came directly from the original shipper.

    A customer orders product when the market rate is lower, and pays for warehousing/crossdock services for it to be stored until the reciever is ready to use it. The supplier will store it for less or no cost. So shipping is charged from supplier to warehouse, and warehouse to reciever. Two false BOLs are created and the product is shipped directly from supplier to reciever.

    It's called "blind" because the reciever is to be blind as to the origin of the shipment when it reaches their facility.

    Not sure if this is the case here, but in my experience, a product is ordered from an Internet based company at a highly inflated price, who in turn gets it from a regular supplier who actually does sell to the public. The front company wants their supplier’s name kept secret to try and keep people buying from them directly.

    Yep that's another example, a good one too.

    I agree that it is fraudulent, unethical even if legal. So I won't touch them.
