I appreciate the help and responses. Scored liner and valve were ruled out not burging oil and no blowby. Talked with the service manager last night figured it was a turbo. Then all hell broke loose over my turbo being left on the shop floor for 2 days when it was overhauled left a message with cat. Today over the warranty and the turbo being left on the ground uncovered when the motor was pulled apart. Doubt itll do any good but who knows. Don't know may have more blow by than I thought had oil on quarater fenders frame on drivers side wheels bags and suspension parts but it's hard to say where it came from because it was under the trailer as well on the top plate of the 5th wheel and hopper skin. Didn't see the other oil till I dropped the trailer and headed to kw yesterday but it did appear as though 5 gallons was splattered on the drivers side of my tractor and trailer.
blowing oil out the stack....

I'm curious how much this ordeal is going to cost. I had a turbo blow up about a month ago and I paid thru the nose for a replacement about $500 too much imo. Don't get your hopes up that CAT will be any help or cares your turbo was left laying around while inframing. I doubt they were kicking dirt and gravels thru it while it was sitting there. They should have checked it for excessive play. I didn't replace mine at inframe time because it only had about 200,000 miles on it. It did not have play in the shaft. It blew up at 350,000 miles for unknown reasons.

379exhd Thanks this. -
Bill wasn't very bad I guess. Truck was done yesterday was told there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Mind officially blown...as a matter of fact kenworth said there was absoluble no evidence of oil on the pipes or in the exhaust.
Can't upload the other pictures of the elbows however it is hard to miss that much oil on a set of stacks....Idk like I said my mind is officially blown. I'd say soot etc. As that does happen problem is its the wrong color and no moisture to loosen the soot in the stacks so they would bleed. Idk I'm baffled I'm going to have a conversation with the tech and have it explained to me...also want an explanation as to why they waited 24 hours to call me after the truck was finished. -
If there was nothing wrong with it, where did the 5 gallons of oil go?. Love to hear what the tech has to say.
-
Yeah really. Like somebody said in another thread if it's not throwing a code some of these "techs" don't know what to do.
Jimmbuds Thanks this. -
I talked to 379 on the phone but will post anyway. First I completely forgot how awful some techs can be and just want to reaffirm what cetane + said about blowby tube. If it's stopped up from anything including dirty filter in rocker box to a dirt dobber nest that engine has to breath and pushing it out the turbo is the place it will go. I think he has turbo trouble to due to the fact he has put several thousand miles on it and the hammering he is hearing.
As as far as give it time the last he wants to do is have them say it's not covered due to running out of oil or abuse etc. or worse yet have a turbo come apart and wipe out a 22 grand over haulCetane+, rollin coal, Pool6710 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I prolly wouldn't run it. Where is the hammering coming from? Wouldn't thing a bad turbo would cause any hammering noise. Being low on oil, yea, that could cause some noise.
Does it spool up, make boost? Idk how they can rule anything out without taking it apart.
Good luck, hope it all works out. I don't have a lot of confidence with shops/dealers when it comes to warranties on anything they may have done -
Just went thru same situation...oil was not draining from turbo back into pan because of a kinked line @ the oil pan...blew 20 qts. of oil into muffler/catalytic converter and a little into the c.a.c...excessive blow-by will also keep the oil from draining out of the turbo into the pan properly
