Picking up 2 boats on trailers. One is 22 feet the other 24. What’s the best way to secure them?

insure that the boat bow is winched up tight and tied down and at least 2 1 inch straps from stern to boat trailer. then tie each trailer to your bed with a minimum of three tie-downs each

What he said ^^^ should be done by the shipper. Good idea to double check that it’s all secure. The length of the boat is irrelevant, you need to know the total length from the tongue of the trailer to the rear of the motor. Since the boat is secured to the trailer it counts as one big piece. That will tell you how many tie downs you need. Over 20’ but under 30’ gets four, over 30’ but under 40’ gets five. Ask the shipper where you are allowed to tie them down. Most likely it will be one around the rear axle, one over the tongue, and two more somewhere on the trailer frame. Don’t forget carpet or some kind of padding to protect the paint from being scuffed by your straps.

Might want to chock wheels as well or throw a couple extra small straps over axles that minimize any movement. If the rules say use 4, I usually put on 8.

The every ten foot rule doesn’t apply here, it’s based on weight just like machinery

Straps over top like everything else, no? Maybe chains? DOT says the thing on the trailer can't move. Might as well use chains just to be safe. Make sure to crank 'em down real tight.

Seriously though, they have securement points for shipping don't they? Boats I see usually move on specially designed trailers.
