    Good lookin' nosebleed truck! I love cabovers. Still have one, in fact. '89 International with the big bunk, although it needs work.

    The Argosy is a very aerodynamic cabover. Looks can be deceiving. One of the major characteristics of the Argosy was that, combined with the right motor and gearing, it could put to shame some of the fuel economy of most any hood truck. It was a shame they discontinued the Argosy as a regular production truck. But they can still be had as a glider truck. FL only makes a few hundred a year to meet that market. None of the regular glider dealers are messing with them, but they are available from FL if one wants to do the complete project themselves.

    Saw my first Argosy glider a couple of weeks ago. A 2013 model with a Detroit.

    From what I remember, one of the most fuel efficient trucks was the 372 Pete. Most thought they were ugly, but I like them. I'd love to get my hands on one of the big bunk models, but, from what I hear, those were sent overseas, for the most part. I see small bunk models, but they are few and far between.

    oh yeah, on the topic of ride quality... Umm, I was smitten with my new truck. It rides OK for a truck. It needs another 70+ inches of wheelbase.

    Todays average "Trucker" probably couldnt climb into the cab.

    In South Africa the Argosy with a Detroit is one of the most common around.
    We can still get away with none of the emission nonsense.
    The locally built ones have as standard 16 500lbs steering and 46 000lbs rears with 18sp and rears around 4,1.
    With small sleeper bunk they weigh in at about 19800lbs with 260 gallon fuel.
    Speed limit on our roads is only 50mph but most run at 60 to 65 most of the time.
    Train weight are around 123 500lbs on 7 axle b train combinations.
    Ave fuel consumption around 4,2mpg.

    The Argosy you see in the avatar has averaged just over 7mpg for the life of the truck, 1.5 million miles all kinds of loads and trailers.
    The "high volume" glider dealers are not doing Argosy's because well, they are high volume. Many other dealers are, avg price to replace mine is about $140 K. 2 used 2009 gliders in michigan are going for $59K, same price as equivalent Cascadia.
