At my recent DOT physical my BP was up, so I got only a 1 year card. I am working on getting it down and don't expect any problems doing so. Will I ever be able to get a 2 year card again? I don't suppose it is that big a deal, but I would like to be able to get a 2 year card once I have sustained control for my BP.

When I changed jobs 2 years ago, my BP was high, much to my surprise. Had 3 months to get it under with meds, and then I could only get the 1 year card. I suppose if you tell them you are on meds then its only good for 1 year.
I don't know why mine is high, don't smoke, don't drink, don't worry, don't drive OTR and am not over weight. What the heck I say....

I got a one yr card the last time. White coat fever I'm sure is what it was.

The DR said once it came down she would give me a 2 yr again.

What is high? Mine was 150/100 untreated. I went back on my drugs to bring it back down. Sadly that's not the only thing down. Seems to cause ED for me.

Yes it is. Heart Disease and High BP are passed on through genes to siblings. I had to really start watching my weight and get my BP under control. My dad had a heart attack at 49. Take care of your health guys and gals!

If you are on meds for BP. you are supposed to only get a 1 year cert, I know i'm on the meds.

Ask your doc for Atenolol. It does not have this side effect, and works very well.

I'v had high BP for a couple of years now. All I get is a 1 year card. The meds control it fine. I feel fine, Dock said that's why it's called the silent killer. Watch your diet, stay on the meds, watch your weight. The only problem I see with OTR is not getting any excersise. Try taking a couple mile walk each night before you turn in for the night instead of watching TV or a movie.
