    You blew up the brakes?

    Could it be brake dynamic?

"Using every brake on the unit", as opposed to only using, what, 3 of 5 axles?

The phrase is more common in railroading - I believe "Dynamite the brakes" means to make a full brake application by releasing (dumping, in an explosive way) all of the brake pipe pressure throughout the train. This results in a full brake application. Maybe a railroader can clarify (I know some laid-off railroaders turned to trucking) . . .

It would be the equivalent of popping both red / yellow brake knobs on your dash in a truck. Not highly recommended. Maybe if you were passing out / stroke / heart attack or something, but still not going to have a good outcome/

(I'm only studying for the written test. Please confirm all selected info for your own safety)

"Dynamiting the brakes": sudden application of brakes (service or spring)

    -line rupture/pressure falls too low
    -disconnecting the gladhands
    -closing the trailer supply valve

some good news: Losing air pressure to the trailer while moving can result in a controlled stop because: the primary and secondary reservoirs' air is blended with a two way check valve, a "spring break modulator" is on the spring breaks,

Bad news: dynamite on a trailer equipped with a relay emergency valve on the service brakes that don't have spring brakes.

To understand dynamite is to go to railroad. Engine stores air in a big tank. Each freight car has one airline through all the way to the end of train. There is a second airline for purposes of brake application, known as the train line.

The closest analogy will be our trucking red and blue service air connections to the trailer.

Lose the trailer it will dynamite into spring application asap and really hard.

A railroad car if it fails to hold pressure BOOM dynamite. That one car would become to use a bad analogy a troublesome truck from Thomas the Tank Engine cartoon. It will get onery and mean wanting to derail it's neighbors. Because it has dynamited, the pressure is falling fast on the trainline. Engineer will have to pretty much take the horses off the drives and apply to stop the train while he still has the control to do it. Like right now.

Then get out of the engine and walk back potentially two miles and 150+ cars to find the one that dynamited.

All train cars have air tanks. When air is lost, they go into Emergency Stop, just like we do. Oddly, the usually run 85-90psi,less than we do.
