2016 pete 579. New hub new drum and new shoes for about third time.. I adjust shoes tight and back off one notch at a time but when spinning the wheel it still ever so slightly rubs in one spot when turning. Is it just new shies need to wear in or is my spider somehow out of correct position? . Im tired of throwing drums and shows on this one front steer tire to try to stop the horrible vibration when bracing . At my wits end

Rule of thumb. When adjusting the breaks, run the slack adjustment nut (5/16) all the way in, then back off 1/4 to 1/2 turn.the breaks should not be dragging at this point and your breaks will be properly adjusted.

1 and a half turns? No no no. 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Dollars to donuts you'll be close to over stroking with 1 and a half turns.

Besides, if the pushrod is cut right, they should stay in proper adjustment.

If i back them off that far they dont drag. If i start tightening the breaks one notch at a time while spinning the tire and stop the moment i hear slight brake shoe rub, the rub is on the bottom shoe only but very minimal. Is that normal til i wear them in a few miles

No It sounds like an s-cam bushing. When s-cam bushing wears out the bottom shoe wears out 1st

You can tell when the spiders bent. The shoes won’t fit evenly inside the drum. Easily seen from the back side. Shoes are normally a lot thicker in the middle when new. That’s probably where they’re dragging. They’ll break in, and match with the drums, in no time.
