    Lol
Ok this one takes the cake^^^^^

I thought I got rooked by a broker when it said lumpers to be paid by carrier. Nobody asked me to pay they just took an amount off my pay. They didn't have an explanation other than "it is on the rate con" when I asked if they think it's fair to not even give me an option to pay an amount or do it myself. So I'm not hauling for them again. 1 and done, I guess.

That's actually a violation of Federal law. An attorney fresh out of law school can get you triple damages plus attorney fees for that.

Canadian law. I may as well pee in the wind. And for the 80 some dollars it cost me it's not worth it to increase my blood pressure over it. I will simply find other means of earning a living, of which are plentiful to me. The amount is small, it is the principle I don't care for.

I am more upset with the ny thruway. I often enter at 48 or 48a and exit at buffalo. It never registers my transponder no matter how slow I drive through. It always reads it on the way out. Therefore charging me as if I entered at i87 or whatever the east point is. $88 when really the amount due is $4.xx. fighting to get that money returned. That really annoys me. All other places it works as designed.

If there are cash lanes at Buffalo, maybe it would be best to stop at one, and say 'oh darn, I forgot that I have EZ-Pass. Can you run this for me"? As you hand them your transponder. :)

If you're delivering in the US, then US law applies. Refuse to pay the lumper fee, and make them unload you. They cannot charge you to unload your truck.

Or, tell the broker that you unloaded the truck yourself, and that they need to refund the deduction.

Delivery to Canada. Up here it is very rare drivers have to pay lumpers. I guess the buyer charges the brokerage house the lumper fee, and it's a flat fee. I never even knew this. All the other guys I've hauled for into this place never even mention it, so it was a surprise when the check arrived.

My deliveries to USA don't play the lumper game. I don't miss it one bit.

Even if I went to cash lane they'd have to charge me full amount. Considering I can't prove where I entered so they charge the maximum. It's how I would run it if it were my toll road. It just irks me to no end why pre pass can't give me any answers other than "we are just a 3rd party billing provider....we can submit your request to the thruway for credit back". I've been waiting on that for probably 4 months now. Crooks. If it happens again I will either quit using the ny toll road unless I'm actually going the whole way or I will switch to best pass. Another thing....based on principle and the insufficient customer service. Indiana Ohio Illinois pa md it works fine so I don't know what is wrong with ny.

The best way is to remind them that Federal law doesn't allow them to charge you to unload your truck. They're well aware of the law, and the penalties involved with disregarding it. And that if they don't unload you, you're leaving and taking their load back to the shipper.

You could always just pay cash.

Or find an attorney willing to start a class action lawsuit over it. It certainly sounds like they're running a racket with it. Pocketing the money stolen because of those who don't fight it, and holding the money of those who fight it in order to earn interest on it.

And you CAN prove where you entered, if you have a dash cam.
