Motor swaps would be a really rough ball park figure, IF you could find someone who has done it before.
The Bullgear would be better asked in the garage section in my opinion. There are a few VERY good mechanics ion there that could give you a pretty good idea.
MartinCoronadoDriver Thanks this. -
When I had mine replaced it was right at 8k I got lucky it did'nt jump time..
Had me done in the next day. Tore it down Monday and back on the road Tuesday.. -
Last bull gear quoted by detroit around 800 after discount. List was 1100 that has been 4-5 years ago, we replaced bearings which detroit said was unserviceable. If your gear is bad it won't help you. Labor will eat your lunch on that job. Motor swap will have some major money issues, plumbing, harness conversion, motor mounts, and so much more you just can't explain without just doing it. Honestly a n14 is a great motor but not worthy of all that work in my eyes.

I just want to get this truck back on the road im going to reefer and im not pulling a reefer in my Coronado. Its not worth the work but i mean its better than the old detriot this truck always leaked oil, Oh yea! What other companies use bullgears except detriot -
Just throw in a 12.7L detroit S60, and change the bullgear before it fails this time.
-
There are very well done reman bull gears available. One of the best I know of is RNC out of Huxley, IA.
http://bullgears.com/index.htmlbarroll and CoronadoDriver Thank this. -
Looks like they don't have 14L bullgears.
-
Did you call them and check? Would seem a little strange that a company who's primary motivation is to reman Series 50 and Series 60 bull gears would not have bull gears for every variety of those engines. I would call before shucking it off.
Never had a 14L, but isn't the same bull gear as the 12.7 anyway? Only thing that happened between the 12.7 and the 14 is a little more displacement. Same block and heads. I think the length of stroke was the only change. -
All over their site it says 11.1 and 12.7 S60. Nothing about the 14L, though they do mention the S50 a few times.
It might be the same bullgear, it might not. It doesn't help that it looks like the text on the site was arranged by a non-native English speaker. A call would probably help.
