329-8549 is the latest 550 file. The MXS/NXS files have had a lot of updates in the files through the years. You do not want to back date the file in any of these engines. Otherwise you will lose Customer Parameters and will not be able to reprogram them with an older file in the ECM. Take this as a major warning to be followed exclusively, otherwise you'll have a truck down.
You will not gain any fuel mileage doing this upgrade and more than likely will lose fuel mileage. The only thing to do with an Acert is a PDI tune in my opinion.wrenchead Thanks this. -
I was actually wondering about using the original 550 files some of these engines came with, by loosing customer files, what do you mean? Thanx for the great info kurt.

I have a 3406E that is stock 550hp. I had Mr Haney flash the ECM on my '05 475 acert. The 550 that I have runs very well and pulls well also. However, If someone offered to flash the ECM in my '06 (475 acert) to run like my 550 FOR FREE, I would decline and send it to Mr Haney and pay to have the PDI tune done. It's that much better. Also, there are PDI dealers locally that can flash my ecm also, however, for my money, I will send any ecm's to be flashed down to Kurt because his experience, knowledge and advice is well worth the shipping charges and the 2 week wait.

The emission standard hasn't changed on these engines since they were introduced. Why would you think going with an older file would help in the way this engine runs?
The newer files is the only way to do this type of upgrade. -
Thanks. The new PDI tuner tool doesn't allow the dealer to pick and chose his tune.........unless they've figured out how to cheat the system

If I was uprating a 475 c15 wouldn't I want a older 550 flash since these newer flash files are performance and milage chokers?
