An everyday use tune...........hmmm what about all the hard part changes, do they count?
My everyday tune will do roughly 1100Hp to the tires. The torque at this power level is above 3600 Lb-Ft at 1800 RPM, I have no idea what it is at a lower engine RPM, but I'd think it would go up another 200 Lb-Ft by 1400 RPM. At Antrim's dyno contest the torque was above 4000 Lb-Ft at 1900 RPM -
And that is your "daily driver"? -
Mr Haney Wow now thats bad ##### 3600 ft lbs is alot for an everyday use but I like it. It may take me a few years to build a c16 long block but I will make it a goal. By then my c-15 will be tired. And what was the guy saying about problems with the aprons? Is there any problems with the c16 I should be concerned about?

C15 to C16 is pistons, rods, crank, turbo and software, not a difficult change but as others have said the crank is pricy. Could probably do a C18 for less money as there are more second hand cranks around for them.

Well now that sound even better but whats the difference in c16 and c18 block? Or is c18 a totally different block on its own and if so will it fit into truck without modifications to truck itself? I like the idea of c18 better so it could run at 1000hp easily and last a long time. But not sure about the fuel mileage difference in a c16 1000hp vs c18 at the same rate. And before anybody says something im not expecting 8mpg maybe around 5 to 6.

Stick with a C15 or C16,Bore size on a C15 is 5.4,C16 is 5.5 and and C18 is more but not sure what it is,the only way they get a larger bore is by making the liner thinner as the blocks are the same.
A well built C15 is the best. . . . . IMHO -
I considered a C18 till i did some research(gotta love the www). As Shaun said, can build whatever you desire, but have to have enough material left to hold the motor together. A man that i have much respect for said if i was looking for big horsepower for a short duration(pulling, etc), build an 18 liter. But he also said for a long lasting, dependable motor stay with the 15-16 motor.
BTW, i believe the C18 is 5.7 by 7.2 bore and stroke?
If only there were pistons availible to stuff that 7.2" crank into a 5.4" liner motor... what a torque monster it would be??? (Mr. Haney, any ideas...?)
-
Thats why I think the C15 ACERT is a good start, longer stroke and thicker liner
