I have a 2014 Peterbilt 579 and the only way the interior lights come on is with the switch on the dash. Is there any way to get them to come on when the door opens?

Does your switch have only one position? Like on or off. On my 97 the switch has 3 positions 1-OFF constant, 2-ON only when door is open and 3- ON constant.
My switch is not on the dash, it's on the overhead light assembly on each side of the cab.

My dash switch has just on and off. I checked all the lights in the cab and those are just on off switches as well

Take a peek at your door opening frame by the door hinge to see if there is a "door jamb switch" for the interior light. If no switch then you don't have a door activated light. If there is one then it's just a matter of tracing to see if it's wired to anything.
