CALLING ALL OWNER OPERATORS!!!!

    I'm calling on all the owner operators!! We need your help to get rid of the ELD mandate for small businesses!! Comments to the fmcsa, for the ELD exemption request are open but only until monday! The Small Business in Transportation Coalition has picked up the OOIDAs request to exempt small businesses!!! As of right now there are only 1700 comments..there should be WAY more than that. And the comments I read were not going to help us out. They make us sound uneducated and unworthy of exemption. Please comment with REAL reasons for exemption and REAL problems for our business that the ELD has brought. Be as specific as possible and keep your fingers crossed the FMCSA hears us this time!

    To those who do comment, thank you for taking the time to do so even if it doesn't help at least maybe it will get their minds in the right spot. Here's to hoping this one last request works and gets us out of this BS mandate. We must stick together in times like these. One person won't be heard but thousands may start to do the trick.

    The ELD is a compliance tool that forces everyone to comply strictly with the HOS. The ELD is not the problem, HOS are. In order to see any change to HOS the new system will put the squeeze on a lot of people to show the flaws and, over time, we will see positive changes. You can’t expect to see changes to HOS if you support a system that can simply paper over the short comings.

    I was leased but now am company man. Leaving this crap for a regular job in 30 days estimation.

    I own my truck that's leased to a carrier. That makes no difference. Ooida is idiots that are fighting a losing battle waiting money.

    I’m making more money than ever thanks to elogs constricting truck supply to where it should have been. I say now that we have the tattletales, let’s go back to the old 10/8 rules, but keep the reset. That will give us the flexibility required. HOS is the real problem. BTW, I’d never used elogs before December, and sold my exempt truck to buy a non exempt glider in November.
