    NO offense intended Tall Joe.

I have heard this crap for a while now and it seems those who are making the claim don't want to read the rest of the constitution.

They seem to be clueless to the fact that since the 1800's the feds have exercised their rights over interstate commerce and trucking is just an extension of that right to regulate it. HOS/ELD is part of the regulation it.

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

OK sir. You are an excellent example that there are drivers who don't need ELDs but don't mind current HOS. You have a valid argument too. You could go there to FMCSA and comment. I would be dishonest commenting there because all I care about is that they let me do to whatever I want. No HOS, that is.

The volatility of the ELD market is the one thing I can truly see as being a problem. It's basically the same as when they put the tier 4 requirements out for engines and nobody had been able to get it right. Now we have some failing outright and shutting down, and yet others having major teething problems. Even the highest quality/cost ones like Omnitracs hasn't been without issue. I don't really know what the solution might be at this point, other than waiting it out, but maybe an open implementation could be developed.

Could be...I'm just saying that this argument came up regarding ELDs more than once, long before the ELD mandate. There are some adamant people believing it is a valid argument, heck there are even some fellows who would say that a DOT inspection violates their rights.

Don't no how long you have been driving. But this isn't the first time someone has said that. And was WRONG, just ask the state of Tn, or pa. Did ya wonder why you didn' get a sticker for my this year? Thank ooida, and ask your company where your share of that refund is. I do think on this case they might be fighting a losing battle. But bet they will still get us a bone, while digging the foundation for the next winning battle. .Never give up, never surrender!

Keep ELD and please bring on more regulation that drives up the freight prices.

Love that driver shortage. Love that driver shortage.

Freedom HOW? because you could manipulate the paper. HOS is the same whether you run paper or elogs. So there really is no "freedom". They are the same thing. The only difference is that one is inputted with ink on paper and the other is inputted with key strokes on a electronic device. BTW, for whatever it's worth, drivers and companies are still falsifying elogs. I know this for a FACT, because I was forced to do so, by more than one carrier. All these elog startup companies are just taking part in the money-grab. They don't enforce or monitor. It's a JOKE.

Only thing wrong with eld is the us hours of service rules and there needs to be a little flex time added that u can use at your discretion.
Canada is much easier. 16 hr Window you can work 15 drive 13 only have to take 8 off in a row then 2 more during the day in minimum 1/2 hr spots. Easy.

Oldironfan, SavageMuffin and Tug Toy Thank this.
