So, it happens at the fuel island. When I went inside to get food. Off 53 south of Joliet. I get in red stop light is flashing. With flashing stop engine light. I reset it start it back on in 30 seconds.

The fuel island had water. So I filled it up and parked it. Thankfully this didn't happen on i80 in Chicago land or Indiana. Lol all because I miss Italian beefs and Chicago hot dogs. And the tarp needed adjusting.

Do you think this could be road service? I would like to dodge the tow. Any ships down near Joliet?

Show road repair the same photos you showed us. Looks like an extractor to remove the broken piece of brass and a install a new fitting. Start calling the dealer to check on the fitting in the am.

Looks like dumb luck too...... that road debris probably knocked it.

I'd think road service could do that. Or you could. Take an Uber and get the part and the tool.

I'd say somebody over tightened that awhile back.

Probably heard or felt it, but just said F it and left it for the next guy.

I'll rent a car. Go buy extractor. See if I can do it. Then to Freightliner for the plug and antifreeze.

You should try to drain the block while your at it. If you put regular tap water in it then the antifreeze won’t be correct till you get it all the dirty water out. So if you can drain the block and fill it with 50/50 premix you’ll have a technically correct repair.

If you want the quick repair and If your OK with flushing it out later (at home) and buying yet more antifreeze, by concentrate coolant to top it off for now. Most coolant systems are 13 gal. So if you can get 7 gallons in it and top it with water from there, you should have the freeze protection needed for the short term. (Short term= get home and in the next month or so get it flushed)

I have ran straight water( wam weather of course) when a oil cooler failed and put oil all through the radiator etc. Regular dish soap and water, 2 times, drain repeat idling it. Then ran couple days plain water , drained, repeat. Never drained the block but when i added antifreeze kept an eye on the strength of it.

    Well it's fixed.

I used an extractor. Aka speed out. That plug was a 160+ at feightliner. 180 on anti freeze. Extractor tool 40 bucks. I bought harbor freight, didn't like it. I went to home Depot and bought one from there and the T handle. Came out real easy. I rented a car 70 bucks. 4 hours later returned. Agent said he was trying to repower the load.

Looks like a #4 or #6 ORB fitting. Probably could have picked up one with a hex or allen head for like $3
