I got less problems with Cat, ISX EGR/Turbo system is too complicated and less reliable if fuel is not the best

Your gonna open a can of worms with that question! Everyone has their favorite.
I own a Cat and it has been good to me.
But most of it is a personal opinion thing... Pete vs. KW, Ford vs. Chevy, Bud vs. Michelob. etc, etc.

    Volvo92906 and groundpounder Thank this.

There both good engines each has their faults. What i would question is since cat quit building O.T.R engines its hard to get them to honor warrantys anymore, and what about getting parts in the future?

    Christensen Thanks this.

    Only if you're an o/o.

I'm just messing around. I mean it's like someone mentioned earlier, it's like Ford vs Chevy etc. I've driven both Cat and Cummins and their both used a lot on Frac pumps and they both do the job.

I've driven non-egr ISX's, egr ISX's, and dpf/egr ISX's. I own and drive an MBN C15. Even in stock form, before my mild upgrades unbridging it, it would run circles around any ISX I had in hills, mountains. The non egr ISX always got excellent fuel mileage. The egr versions always got lousy fuel mileage compared to the older one and felt weak. The '08 with a dpf smoked like a freight train was weak and also got bad mpg's. My Cat only avg's 5.8mpg but it pulls hills and mountains awesome. I'll always have a Cat. Parts for Cats will never be a problem there are stilll lots of them out there, the heavy duty spare parts business is big $$$$$ and Cat still has a huge dealer network. They still warranty overhauls. My buddy just had an '01 C15 overhauled by the local Cat house. It came with a 3 year unlimited miles warranty that covers everything except for his unusual compound turbo setup. Like somebody said its like bud lite or miller lite.. big can of worms..
