I am looking into getting a job at a towing company, and wanted to know if I could drive their wreckers with a CDL A with an O restriction. Or if I would have to get that restriction taken off.
CDL A restriction

O restriction is the one for not tested with a fifth wheel? A net search sounds like it is a full retest process to get it removed.
Could depend on what they are pulling. Would be best to ask the company if the restriction is a deal breaker for them. -
No. You require an unrestricted class A to drive heavy wrecker. The O limits you to pintle and ball type hitches only. A heavy wrecker is classified the same as a piggy back set of trucks. The underlift with forks is the same as a saddle mount in the eyes of DOT.
Not to mention many tow companies alos have road tractors, Landoll trailers and lots of other goodies that require a full class A.Suspect Zero, tscottme, kemosabi49 and 2 others Thank this. -
Drive Ready-mix trucks or straight trucks, fam.
