Depends on the doctor. Mine refused to even do it after seeing I checked anxiety on the form. It's possible they do a blood and urine, but definitely vision, hearing, blood pressure..etc. The whole thing is just a beaurocratic formality. We aren't flying jet fighters. I've been driving 25,000-30,000 miles a year in and around NYC, and anxiety has never been an issue. I'm almost numb to stress on the road. Also, their blood pressure machines are a scam. They said mine was 130/96 when I went. When I was in urgent care recently for sinus pain, it was 118/87 and 120/82 both times they took it. Almost textbook. They are full of it, and then whine about the shortage of truckers. You check any one of those boxes on the intake form, they'll either fail you immediately or be much harsher evaluating you on the other tests.

Bathe. You'd be surprised how many people go to the doctor's office stinking of last night's beer and cigarette smoke, with whatever they had for supper and breakfast still stuck in their teeth. They have breath like a cannibal bat.
Put on clean clothes. Nobody wants to smell three day old sox and all the urine that didn't make it past the fly on your shorts for the last week. Arm pit odor to the point where it rises up like swamp gas isn't attractive either. -
I came in with a perfectly clean interstate 80 shirt, and am 23 + never drank/smoked in my life. He had no valid reason not to at least do the test. The number of boxes that can't be checked is ridiculous. How does anyone get the job?? The majority of truckers I see on the side of their road, there's no way their health is as good as mine. There's obvious favoritism depending on who the doctor is and the applicants that are applying.

Go get your CDL… keep it good. All types of careers you can get from there….
A word of advice though…. There are ALOT of very informative unselfish truckers sharing their experiences here. Try not to bite the hand giving you ‘free advice’…. We all don’t appreciate the attitude when we are just trying to help.
Get your blood pressure down a little and you can get a 2 year card.
Watch your weight or you will be on your way for a sleep study…. -
I haven't been giving you guys attitude, just the stupid beaurocracy that makes it seem like we're flying jet fighters. BTW, I had my blood pressure taken at my local hospital, it was 120/82, and 118/87 both times, so the 130+ over 96 was complete ########. I should report that guy for discrimination/false data. My weight is 164 which is fine for a 23 yo guy. What does a sleep study have to do with weight? I have occasional sleep apnea but I ain't checking that box next time around, nor the anxiety one.

I only get the issue of waking up feeling short of breath/like I haven't been getting enough oxygen/paused breathing type feeling like once every 2-3 months. I hardly ever get it, and when I do it's usually because it's hot out or the air is too dry in my room/allergies. Sometimes taking Benadryl for allergies (and yes I would know not to take that before driving obviously) triggers it. Don't think it's an underlying condition.
