Guess to Fill in a little of my Back story here.

I started at Celadon as a Company Driver in May 2010 at the start everything was going fine was running about 2800 miles a week. Making a decent check. Well when I sign up I did not know about their Lease Purchase program so after a while I started looking into it.

Since this was not my first time in dealing with a lease purchase deal I figured I was better prepared for the shortcomings and pitfalls of doing this.

After much thought and asking questions and what not I finally decided to make the switch in August 2010 but when I called I was told there was a 2 month waiting list so I told them to put me on it.

So in October 2010 I called then back to see when I would get in, They scheduled me in to make the switch. So now I have made the switch to the lease purchase program and thought everything would be fine.

    Guess I was wrong

    Thing I have noticed:
On one load I picked up it was only 500 miles for an entire weekend so I called Driver Manager and ask if I can drop the load and get something for the rest of the weekend. She says no problem and sets it up so I can drop the load at the Indy yard. Welp Saturday morning rolled around and I get a Message on the Qualcomm saying there is no freight that weekend and I have to keep my load and deliver it on Monday. Hmmm OK well I Deliver that load Monday morning and then get my next load assignment that could have been picked up over the weekend!! WTF?

I am only running about 2500 or less miles per week. For some reason the Company is capping my miles at around 2500/week so as long as I keep the fuel in check I am taking home after everything is said and done about 450.00/Week. So I talk to my Driver Manager tell her I need more miles than this.

She replies that I am taking too much time on the loads I have been given that have a "window" on the Delivery or the Pick up. So OK I pick up the pace on these loads only now to have my miles further cut back as of last week I only ran 1639 miles and did not make a check at all this week! Not Happy right now.

Yeah my Miles got cut further back after I stood up for Myself with the Company, So far this week is not looking much better for miles. So I guess this is what I get.

Reimbursements: Company says they will Reimburse Tolls if they are Authorized, Well guess what they don't so I have been paying tolls outta my pocket. Since it seems every load I am getting lately is involving Tolls of some sort.

Guess the Point I am trying to get too is, Anyone having these problems at Celadon? Been talking to some Drivers in the Lease Purchase Program some say they are doing great and some say they are doing lousy like I am. So I dunno

But I think at this rate Celadon needs to be stopped cause far as I am concern what they are doing is illegal.

I know the obvious thing would be to quit and walk away from this. Like so many Drivers have done before me but this only fixes the problem for the individual and does not stop Celadon from Continuing to use decitfull tactics to get drivers in there program and rip them off.

but i am kinda at wits end here now about where to go from here.

sorry to hear you got taken by them. i drove for celadon back in 08. had a great dm was clicking between 27-3k miles a week....never sat around. he got forced out. then I got a new dm...miles dropped a little, then some more then ridiculously as a company driver i started going in the hole to them. I left...........talk to jaime Steele if he's still around. Forget about Chesterman he's a stooge....your dm is trying to shaft you.

is Ed still around he was a decent strait shooter dm. And if you know Bam Bam ( if he's still driving there) tell him nik says hi!!

The lease ops I talked to there said that they got ran real well until it was getting close to pay off time...then the miles dried up.

    Good luck driver

I looked at the Canadian Lease Purchase package with Celadon. Created a spreadsheet and figured out that there were WAY to many clauses in their L/P to make a living. Also the fact they are saying a beat to heck '07 basic truck is going to cost you over $60 grand then have a $5 grand buyout at the end of 190 months. Even though the L/P info says they lease is for 157 months.

I saw too many red flags on just the paperwork to try to get people interested. First one, $1.09 per mile. Then the 'approved' tolls deal. I knew they would say that there are other roads to take besides the toll roads.

I like the lease deal we have with our company right now. No screwing around involved. Everything is laid out in plain English and the entire office staff are fundamental Christians.

yup here i am again another weekend of sitting around waiting for a load.

yeah Celadon says they don't pay for the Tolls in the west IE Oklahoma Kansas etc but there supposed to be paying the tolls in the east tho.

But of course they do not so that has been forcing me to take other routes
if the load gets there on time fine if not fawk em
