Driver Retention--now thats funny--Celadon themselves will tell you that they average 112% turnover. I agree that is lower than some, but also a lot higher than some. That to me sounds like they dont have a clue on driver retention. They never tried anything to retain me, in fact quite the opposite. They did everything that they could to make me quit-which I did. I dont think that Steve "Duh" R. is worried about retaining anyone as much as he is worried about increasing the size of his wallet. Even all his top guys have been leaving over the past few years, you know guys he said that "Celadon would be nothing without them" well, most of them are gone.

Well I went through orientation with them on march 3rd, and Steve came in and told us that the turn over was over 100,, there was 53 of us the made it through and they had no trucks ready for anyone , except one team. I still haven't received my last paycheck for 670 miles+ breakdown pay for 7 days+ toll fee... the Magtec truck I delivery to Richmond, VA from Indy via Texas.. was the only other driving I had for them , I scanned both trips in from Richmond on the same day,and at the same time , while I waited for my truck , and they were paid a week apart?? I completed all 4( did 5 of them) of the driver video tests there required be done in the 1st six month's during my wonderful stay in Indy before I even left with the Magtec truck.

I now this is a thread about your experience with Celedon.. nothing at all wrong with that.
Me, I know next to nothing about Celadon - other than a lady I respect tremendously works there.
*However*, you are making your comments public. The essence of this board is *information*. You are - as far as I know - perfectly free to voice your opinion and recount your experiences here in the "bad company" area. But, it seems to me that anybody who happens to disagree with you should be allowed to post a responding rebuttal right alongside your own posts.
Or did these threads suddenly become private property? -
I respect the people whom work at Celadon they are a great company to work for
-
As you can see anyone can post their rebuttal right along side, there nothing I can do to stop them from doing so, I was just frustrated by one person, who doesn't post a rebuttal but continue's to post "One liners" and has stated in another Celadon thread things that contradicte what she types here, as if I have offended her by stating what happen to ME and MY feeling towards the BIG "C" and she in all her power and truth can one liner me back to seeing the "C" as a great company to work for , that with never happen...(fingers in my ears) LALALALALALALALALALA...........Last edited: Jul 13, 2008

Dude. I don't think people like you much. Say hello to my ignore list.

from another Celadon thread posting
The NEGATIVES: Every company has them.
1) If you get stuck in Texas after midnight on Saturday, you're going to sit until Monday. Last weekend I did a load to Laredo, and there were 158 drivers waiting for loads. To be fair though, I had a load on Monday evening, right at the tail end of a 34hr restart.
2) They don't like 34hr restarts as a rule. Which is fine with me, because I never took restarts unless I HAD to. I did 3700 miles with Celadon when I hadn't had a restart in 2 1/2 weeks...LEGALLY...so it's possible. Of course, if you end up in Texas on a weekend, you'll get a restart anyway.
3) Maintenance couldn't find their arse with a flashlight and a search warrant. They maintain thier trucks VERY well, but it will take them 3 days to do it. I spent 14 hours in a shop for a routine overhead. And immediately after leaving the shop, I got a qualcomm that my truck had to go back for something else. To be fair though, when I ignored a qualcomm about a PM (because I dreaded the shop), they ROUTED me to a Speedco for a PM.
4) They don't believe in EZPass. They have PrePass, but NOT EZPass. To me this is insane, and has no logical reasoning. While they DO reimburse for all tolls, I one time forked out over $140 for tolls in the NE of my own money before reimbursement. To be fair though, they will "front" you the money via ComCheck if you ask. But you have to know what the tolls are going to be beforehand.
For the tricks: VOLUNTEER, and keep your Macros current. I volunteer for HAZMAT, and take the loads that other people refuse (which is how I got my ONE NYC run). My Macros are always in on time. I don't complain and am pleasant to every department I deal with when I have a problem. And my DM takes care of me. -
I can tell alot of good stories about them and they didn't have to let us take our Easter trip (vacation) in the truck but they did I could go on and on and tell you all the good things that they have done but I know you will still say that they are a bad company but you have to take the bad things to get the good things
