Has any one ever fluid balanced their wheels instead of running the centramatic wheel balancers. Looking for pros and cons of fluid balancing vs centramatic balancers

Balance beads are an alternative to centramatics. I would not use a liquid.
Caterpillar Cowboy, daf105paccar and Goodysnap Thank this. -
H2O probably wouldn't work. On a cold mornin that is.

I was troubleshooting a vibration on an old ladies fwd chrysler car, dont recall the model. Spun up the rear wheels with the spinner and the RR Shook like it was seporated tho it ran true as can be with little runout if any.
Dismounted the tire and got blasted in the face with what was proly a dozen or more cans of the cheapest fix a flat known to man. Looked like water and newspaper shavings. Repaired the nail hole, cleaned out the tire and all was good.
Ditto to no fluids for balancing.blairandgretchen and daf105paccar Thank this. -
These are semis not farm tractors or heavy equipment.
Balance beads have served me well over the years, I actually just ordered my first set of centramatics to try out. A 20k front axle on a 212 wheelbase truck with Chalmers out back needs all the help it can get. Especially when you're in bumper pull mode and you actually have less weight on your steers loaded than empty!Oxbow Thanks this. -
Windshield washer fluid is used as weight in tires, don't know about balancing them.

When you use beads, is that just for the finishing touch after you balance them as normal? Or do you just run beads and not balance them at all?

daf105paccar and God prefers Diesels Thank this.
